An important message from FSU Office of Human Resources

This message has been approved by Shelley Lopez, Program Director, Communications/Special Projects, for distribution to all Department Representatives.
During the most recent legislative session, Florida Senate Bill 52 was approved, which contains implications for bonus structures utilized by postsecondary education institutions. The legislation authorizes a university Board of Trustees (BOT) to implement a bonus program for university employees to recognize individual work performance or employee recruitment and retention, subject to approval by the Board of Governors (BOG).



Per the new requirement and in consultation with the General Counsel's Office, Human Resources will not process individual bonus requests related to work performance, recruitment, or retention until the University's bonus plan is approved by the BOT and BOG later this fall. Additionally, and until further notice, sign-on bonuses offered in new hire packages should include language that the payment may be processed up to 90 days from hire date.
