[FSU IRB] COVID-19 Restrictions on Human Research

August 2021 UPDATE to In-Person/Face-to-Face Human Research

University leadership notified the campus community that effective August 1, 2021 that FSU would return to “normal, pre-pandemic operations.” However, some important exceptions for in-person human research activities still apply, including that human research participants and study staff be informed that masks and full COVID-19 vaccinations are strongly recommended, and that unvaccinated persons (human research participants or study staff) who test positive or come in close contact with known COVID-19 cases shall not be involved in any in‐person activities involving human subjects for at least 10 (ten) days after testing positive or close contact. New studies or IRB submissions involving in-person research activities involving human research participants are required to conform to these exceptions. Existing studies may need to be modified accordingly if researchers plan to resume “normal, pre-pandemic operations” in their in-person human research activities.
