[Fla-ffb] Your Presence Matters at Library Day on January 22

Happy New Year Everyone!  Apologies in advance for cross-posting.

We are very much looking forward to Library Day in Tallahassee on January 22.  By now I hope you’ve all made plans to be at the Capitol to help ensure we continue moving library issues forward in the State Legislature.  If you are unable to attend yourself my hope is that a colleague, Friends of the Library, or other representation from your area is there to visit with your district’s Senators and Representatives.  Every visit makes a difference.  Each person in attendance will have an impact. Our influence is only as strong as our collective presence and the effort you make to be there really does matter!

The forwarded message below was sent earlier in December if you need the links back to resources, schedules, or registration. Also, I was unable to attend the Public Library Directors meeting in November and missed seeing you all. However, I was informed that a document circulated that will be immensely helpful to our advocacy efforts during the Legislative Session.

If you haven't already, kindly complete the document for your county/municipality/cooperative so that we have a better idea of how we can best advocate for your libraries. This document will become a vital resource in our efforts going forward.

It's that time of year again! Let your voice be heard and advocate for libraries at the Florida Capitol on Library Day!

Join us on January 22 to meet with your state legislators and let them know how important libraries are to our communities across the state. The FLA Advocacy Committee has worked for months to create a meaningful and engaging agenda, designed to make the most of your time in Tallahassee.

Library Day is free and open to all library advocates and the more support we have, the louder our collective voice.

Activities begin on Tuesday, January 21 with a Legislative Reception in downtown Tallahassee at Sittig Hall from 5:30-7:00pm.

Wednesday, January 22 will begin early with a Legislative Briefing (providing you with all the information and materials you need!) followed by an impactful day of meetings with legislators.
