It is definitely their loss. I'll keep an eye open if there are any opportunities with LLAMA or other groups at ACRL this year. And we can always keep trying!

Craig and all,

Sad that we didn’t make the program—their loss. :( I agree that we should continue to submit proposals on behalf of FACRL. We can start thinking about our next proposal!

Hello all,

Please see below and I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I believe our program submission was of a very high quality, though maybe with the low acceptance rate that ACRL had this year and the thematic difference, it just wasn’t our year.

I do recommend that we submit another proposal to the ACRL Division for ALA Annual 2020 on behalf of FACRL next year. It’s a great way to showcase our local talents to the national division.

Best,

Craig

Good morning Bob, Penny, and Kirsten,

Thank you so much for sharing your work and agreeing to participate in the FACRL program proposal for ALA Annual 2019. Unfortunately, it appears that our break-out session proposal to present was not chosen. There was a lower acceptance rate than usual (23%) for this ACRL Division submission, though I feel that this is still a big loss for ALA Annual attendees. Your work is high quality and relevant to all academic libraries and I hope that we might be able to tap into your talents as possible presenters in future.

Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions for future collaboration.

Thanks again,

Craig

Dear Craig Amos,

Thank you for submitting a proposal for an ACRL program at the 2019 ALA Annual Conference. The ACRL Professional Development Committee (PDC) has completed the review and selection process. On behalf of PDC, it is with regret that I let you know your proposal, "Telling Our Story: Methods for Demonstrating Libraries' Academic Impact at the Administrative Level ," was not chosen for presentation.

Although you may be understandably disappointed that your proposal was not accepted for the conference, please do not consider this a negative evaluation of the quality of your work, but rather an indication of the volume and quality of the proposals submitted. With ALA’s centralized program submission process, ACRL received an exceptionally large number of program proposals for the 21 available slots. This made the review process and decisions very difficult. Only 23% of the submissions were able to be accepted due to the limited number of program slots available to ACRL.

Thank you for submitting your work to ACRL and for your interest in the 2019 ALA Annual Conference.

Best,

Margot Conahan
