Hi Kim and all,

The Canizaro Library at Ave Maria weathered the storm without any damage. We had a few minor leaks, but they are the same leaks we have after every afternoon storm. We were a shelter for faculty/staff and found everything in good order when we went to check on the collection and building yesterday. We are working with a skeleton crew of student workers and have reduced services and hours this week as the full-time staff either evacuated, can't find fuel, have debris to clean up, or have minor damage to their homes. Regular operations will resume on Monday.


The rescheduled meeting tentatively works for me. My schedule is up in the air right now, but I will do my best to attend. If something comes up and I can't make it I'll send my report via email.

Just a quick note to touch base with everyone to assess support needs following Hurricane Irma. Please reply all to the list with any needs that you may have and perhaps we can collectively offer support to those individuals/institutions most severely impacted. I know many are still without power and in the midst of cleaning up both homes and institutions, but I am hopeful that we are all making positive progress on the clean up and recovery process. Please do not hesitate to ask for support if you or your library are in need!

At this time, we are just 5 weeks out from the FACRL Annual Conference. I have been in contact with both the conference venue and corresponding hotel and fortunately, neither sustained damage from Hurricane Irma. With time drawing short, I would like to try to convene the Board on Tuesday, September 19th at 3:00 pm to address needs from the respective subcommittees and assess tasks yet to be accomplished in advance of the Annual Conference.
