[Fla-facrlboard] Fwd: [FLA] Deborah Robinson Scholarship Donation

Hi all,
I've been traveling so I'm a bit late to the discussion. Perhaps an award could be created? One recognizing leadership perhaps? I like the idea of a scholarship, but with FLA doing something similar, I don't want it to be in the same vein if possible.
Is there a precedence for this type of recognition? I'm thinking also of librarians who are retiring and have contributed much to Florida academic librarianship like Gloria Colvin and Linda McCarthy (though her efforts go beyond academic to all librarianship, so perhaps too broad). I think Debbie deserves to be honored, but I also think it's important to think beyond the circumstances and more of the longevity of what such recognition means and how it can be used going forward.

I believe Debbie was a part of the FACRL leadership team (including Claire Dygert and Jonathan Miller) that worked diligently to untangle FACRL from FLA.

However, do have the option of renaming the existing FACRL Conference Scholarships (we offer 3 annually). I am unfamiliar with the practice of a one-time dedication, so I envisioned a permanent naming convention. However, I am open to other ideas and potential fundraising initiatives.

Would this be a one-time dedication for FACRL conference scholarships or are we looking at this as a permanent naming convention? Should we leave it open for future dedications in our fundraising efforts?

> "Our thoughts are with our friend and colleague Deborah Robinson, who is very ill. Debbie has served on the FLA board and in many other leadership roles here in Florida and nationally. We want to recognize and thank her for the many contributions she has made to librarianship. To honor her in a way that supports future librarians we have set up a donation fund in her name for the FLA Scholarship Fund. If you would like recognize her by making a donation, please include “For Deborah Robinson” in the description field of the PayPal form. Thank you."
