I appreciated the opportunity to welcome the new members of the Board, acknowledge the service of those members whose terms are expiring and reconnect with members continuing to serve in the coming year. As mentioned during the meeting last week, FACRL has the opportunity to license two ACRL webinars for members each year. Live webcast events viewed jointly at a host institution provide meaningful programming to different areas of the state and increase member engagement with FACRL. If this is something you may be able to organize for your region of the state, I encourage you to contact me to discuss the details. We have two licenses remaining through August and I believe we can host multiple viewing locations (2 or 3) if there is interest for a specific program. If the dates pose a problem, we could always register and receiving the recording for group viewing and discussion at another time. I would also like to seek your assistance in identifying a date/time each month for the FACRL Board to devote to business matters that arise throughout the year. Please complete the following poll at your earliest convenience, but no later than Wednesday, May 24th: https://goo.gl/forms/IbgCvZytvGjdw7ED2 Thank you for your time and attention to this request. I hope it reduces the need to send multiple scheduling requests in the coming year. Finally, the contact information for the 2017-2018 Board has been posted to the FACRL website. Please take a moment to ensure that your information is up to date and accurately represented. Thank you again for your willingness to step forward and assume leadership positions within FACRL and for your service to the Association. I look forward to working with you all in the coming year. I believe Debbie was a part of the FACRL leadership team (including Claire Dygert and Jonathan Miller) that worked diligently to untangle FACRL from FLA. I hesitate to seek donations to a separate scholarship fund in Debbie's name, as I don't want to dilute the collection efforts of FLA. However, do have the option of renaming the existing FACRL Conference Scholarships (we offer 3 annually). Perhaps an award could be created? One recognizing leadership perhaps? I like the idea of a scholarship, but with FLA doing something similar, I don't want it to be in the same vein if possible. Is there a precedence for this type of recognition? I'm thinking also of librarians who are retiring and have contributed much to Florida academic librarianship like Gloria Colvin and Linda McCarthy (though her efforts go beyond academic to all librarianship, so perhaps too broad). I think Debbie deserves to be honored, but I also think it's important to think beyond the circumstances and more of the longevity of what such recognition means and how it can be used going forward. Dedicating one of the recurring FACRL conference scholarships sounds like a workable plan and a nice way to honor Ms. Robinson. Maybe we award one Deborah Robinson Scholarship and leave the other two unnamed. This would give us some flexibility in the future should FACRL need it. Sarah D. DeVille, M.L.I.S. I am unfamiliar with the practice of a one-time dedication, so I envisioned a permanent naming convention. However, I am open to other ideas and potential fundraising initiatives. Kimberly A. Though I did not have the opportunity to meet or work with Ms. Robinson, she sounds like a good candidate for recognition. This would be separate from the FLA scholarship fund/dedication for which they are also accepting donations, correct? Would this be a one-time dedication for FACRL conference scholarships or are we looking at this as a permanent naming convention? Should we leave it open for future dedications in our fundraising efforts?
