I had intended on sending it last week, but there was a problem with the listservs and none of my emails would go out. If you know know any student who may be eligible for the scholarship, please pass this email along to them. The application will close on August 11 to give the Scholarship Committee sufficient time to review the applications and notify the applicants of our decision by September 1. I hope everyone as a wonderful Independence Day! Sarah Sarah D. DeVille, M.L.I.S. Message-ID: Hi everyone, Lauri Rebar and William Miller, co-editors of *The Reference Librarian *are interested in exploring the possibility of publishing a special issue featuring selected authors of posters/presentations from the 2017 FACRL Conference. While I am extremely interested in providing this opportunity to our conference contributors, I communicated to Lauri and William that we are early in the submission phase and at the moment I am not in a position to judge if the quality or quantity of submissions would support a special issue. Lauri and William are willing to provide additional time to assess submissions and gauge author interest. In the interim, they have given permission to promote the possibility of future publication along with the call for proposals. I write seeking your approval to add the following statement to the call for proposals: Presentations and posters of superior quality may be considered for future publication in a special issue of The Reference Librarian , a major refereed journal published by Taylor and Francis. Certainly, we do not want to imply a promise of publication, but to encourage the submission of presentations and posters of superior quality that may be worthy of post-conference expansion into an academic publication. Your suggestions are welcome and appreciated. Best regards, *Kimberly A. I have included all of the hotel rate information I have received in this spreadsheet . I am still waiting to hear back from the Westin Tampa Harbour Island and Aloft Tampa Downtown however. Based on the reasonable rate of $139 a night and the hotel location, my recommendation would be to reserve the block of 30 rooms at the Sheraton Tampa Riverwalk for the night of Thursday October 19th. It has a very nice location right on the Hillsborough River in downtown Tampa and on the new riverwalk , about a 16 minute walk to the Tampa Bay History Center. There are number of big concerts in Tampa on October 19th and 20th, including Bruno Mars on October 19th at the Amalie Arena in downtown Tampa, so we are hoping to confirm the room block with the hotel by early next week. Also, due to how crowded and busy downtown Tampa will be on Thursday 10/19 because of the concert, we are now looking into the option of having both the afternoon board meeting and reception at the hotel instead of at the Tampa Bay History Center and the Columbia Cafe. Due to the concert, there will not be any parking right by the history center that afternoon/evening. The Sheraton has the River's Edge Lounge that looks like it would work well for the reception at the hotel and I am still waiting to hear back on meeting space costs at the Sheraton. Please let me know by Friday July 21st if you have questions or concerns with securing the hotel room block and the board meeting space at the Sheraton Tampa Riverwalk. Thank you, Alyssa -- Alyssa N. Sure, I will see about whether the reception could be by the pool. From the photo, it looks like the Rivers Edge Lounge might be right by the pool so that might make it easy to have drinks and appetizers by the pool. Thanks, Alyssa -- Alyssa N.
