[Fla-facrl] Call for CJCLS Mentoring Program Mentee Recruitment

Hello Community & Junior College Libraries Section!

Are you new to community college libraries and looking to expand your
professional knowledge and skills? The CJCLS Mentoring Program Committee
invites you to participate in the CJCLS Mentorship Program!

The CJCLS Mentoring Program continues to be a success, and we are now
accepting mentee applications for the 2025-2026 (8-month) mentoring
program. Mentors were recruited in April 2025.

Our program mentors and mentees from 2024-2025 shared many positive and
beneficial experiences. Comments included:

   -

   “I was matched with a great mentor.”
   -

   “I think that this mentoring program is really great! I really learned
   about a lot of opportunities that will help me on my MLIS journey. I also
   learned a lot about research and publications. More experienced librarians
   do have a lot of insight on where we are in our careers, since they already
   were in our shoes at some point!”
   -

   “It was very motivating. It is so beneficial to have a relationship with
   someone who has experience. It can be difficult to find someone let alone
   develop this kind of relationship on your own.”

After the deadline, participants will be paired (mentor/mentee), and the
mentoring program will run from October 15, 2025, to June 26, 2026. A
“Kick-Off Meeting” covering a review of the program will take place on
Wednesday,
October 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. PST / 12:00 p.m. MST / 1:00 p.m. CST / 2:00
p.m. EST.

Requirements for Participation:

For Mentees - Open to all who are currently employed at a community college
library as a librarian, staff, administrator, or student enrolled in or
recent graduate from graduate-level Library and Information Science (MLIS)
programs who are interested in working at a community college library.

NOTE:  Due to limited space, this year's CJCLS Mentoring Program will
accept only as many mentees as there are available mentors. As a result, we
will maintain a waitlist for additional mentees. During the application
period, we will inform you if you are placed on the waitlist.

To apply, please complete the Mentee Application. Deadline: Sunday,
September 14, 2025, by 3:00 p.m. PST / 4:00 p.m. MST / 5:00 p.m. CST / 6:00
p.m. EST.
