QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor?s Degree in relevant field Experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in a medical school, hospital library, or an academic health sciences library experience Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes: * Knowledge of business and management principles. * Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations. * Ability to establish department goals, and objectives that support the strategic plan. * Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others. * Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train others. Department Specific Functions * Process regular and rush priority lending requests according to detailed instructions and using software such as: Docline, OCLC WorldShare, USearch, Alma, PubMed, and Cognito Forms. This involves searching using specialized search techniques and evaluating information to determine further actions * Process document delivery requests * Process copyright clearance for borrowing requests * Receive and process materials from lending libraries (via mail, courier, Odyssey and E-mail) and prepare materials for delivery to library users * Coordinating shipping for all returning items to Lending Libraries * Coordinate and set priorities for Lending or Borrowing operations * Maintain awareness of Interlibrary Loan copyright compliance * Assist with billing invoices for services provided * Know and apply policies and procedures to facilitate electronic delivery of documents to other universities and libraries. * Coordinate the pickup and drop-off of material from the other University of Miami Libraries * Retrieve materials from stacks, prepare materials for Document Delivery and oversee delivery of ILL materials to other libraries (via mail, courier, international shipping, Email, and fax) * Establish and apply procedures for timely processing of overdue items, conditional pending items, renewals, resends, and problem requests for ILL; this involves using specialized search techniques and judgment to select, interpret, and process records for further actions * Routinely checks and responds to voice messages and lending Emails * Prepare Statistical Data Reports for Library Administration * Maintain positive customer relations with faculty, students and staff, vendors, authors and publishers * Assist with the Library Services desk and other library-wide projects as assigned * Collaborate with the Learning, Research, and Clinical Information Services (LRCIS) department to enhance library services. * Participate in library committees and teams as needed * Participate in training programs and workshops * Assist with maintaining up-to-date procedures manuals for Interlibrary loan/document delivery operations * Familiarity with SELFLIN, NNLM, and national medical library consortia * Knowledge of International interlibrary loan procedures for accessing medical literature * Experience with EZproxy or other authentication systems to facilitate remote access to medical literature #LI-YC1 The University of Miami offers competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, tuition remission and more.
