You can also see a copy of the Bylaws reflecting the changes is here: https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fdocs.google.com%2Fdocument%2Fd%2F1No_kCSo7ZvtteeWetGQ27NGE-oOfpBrWwz01hS7UDyQ%2Fedit%3Fusp%3Dsharing&data=05%7C02%7Cfla-facrl%40lists.fsu.edu%7Cc55a5cff4d5e4302421f08ddc47ce908%7Ca36450ebdb0642a78d1b026719f701e3%7C0%7C0%7C638882763256350948%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJFbXB0eU1hcGkiOnRydWUsIlYiOiIwLjAuMDAwMCIsIlAiOiJXaW4zMiIsIkFOIjoiTWFpbCIsIldUIjoyfQ%3D%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&sdata=szW2nNETWooG1Q9J2chWlcXUoMCjMssOuJ%2BsjeVmBx8%3D&reserved=0 Amendments and Rationale: * Amendment #1 - Renames DEI Officer to Engagement Officer and updates the description. This is a sad, unfortunate change prompted by the current political environment in the state, and one we are reluctantly suggesting to avoid any scrutiny or issues that may arise. * Amendment #2 - Formally names a committee to oversee our FACRL conference planning and logistics and sets the timetable for membership to start February 1st each year. We are recommending this change in order to give our committee more time to plan and prepare for the annual FACRL conference. * Amendment #3 - Removes instances where "vice-president" is used and replaces with "president-elect." Minor wording change to maintain consistency throughout the bylaws. * Amendment #4 - Updates term of service for board positions to allow for a transition period between essential board positions. Also combines Terms sections in Articles 5, 6, and 12 so all Board terms are located in the same Article (5). This creates a transition period for some of our essential offices on the Board of Directors and also cleans up the bylaws to consolidate matters into one article (5). * Amendment #5 - In order to ensure consistency from one board term to the next, the Florida Chapter of ACRL would like to create and adopt a Standard Operating Procedures document to track and document the processes and instructions necessary for the running of the chapter. We need to have a living document to track all the processes and procedures involved with running FACRL rather than relying on the institutional memory of Board of Director members. We have created an online survey for you to record your vote. Voting is open now and will close on Friday, August 1st by 6:00pm (Eastern). https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fforms.gle%2Fx9RYwghh4Qj89Wy87&data=05%7C02%7Cfla-facrl%40lists.fsu.edu%7Cc55a5cff4d5e4302421f08ddc47ce908%7Ca36450ebdb0642a78d1b026719f701e3%7C0%7C0%7C638882763256377242%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJFbXB0eU1hcGkiOnRydWUsIlYiOiIwLjAuMDAwMCIsIlAiOiJXaW4zMiIsIkFOIjoiTWFpbCIsIldUIjoyfQ%3D%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&sdata=bU%2FVWZbWCEu0J7RAyTHXBMNECwaIG1UA6N74m34xLOQ%3D&reserved=0 Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions, comments, or feedback. "A library is not just a warehouse for books; it is a physical representation of a set of cultural values that have accumulated over thousands of years. Libraries salvaged and preserved Western civilization; they have been a hub for intellectual exchange, a ladder of social mobility, and a promise of continuity from one generation to the next. It is not mere courtesy that causes people to become silent in the library, as they do in a church: Libraries are sacred places." -from "A Laboratory of Collaborative Learning," by Thomas H.
