Greetings!

Researchers at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville are inviting you
to participate in a research study to interrogate the confluence of gender,
sexuality and identity to map commonalities among professional
queer-identifying librarians working in academia. Using the data from this
study, we want to create a grounded theory inductive codebook based on
responses from participants to understand the needs, perceptions and
obstacles faced by LGBTQ+ academic librarians within institutions. Finally,
our ultimate goal is to establish an inductive data-driven lexicon of
concepts and terminology aimed at queer liberatory redress of institutional
failings.

Your participation in this study will involve completing a survey, with the
option to participate in a focus group. The expected time commitment for
the survey is 10 minutes or less, and the expected time commitment for the
focus group is roughly an hour. The results of this study may be published
in research journals or presented at professional conferences. However, the
risks to you as a participant are minimal as your name will not be attached
to your responses.
