establishes the Student Open Access Resource Repository and Student Open
Access Resource Grant Program to provide funding for the creation and
expansion of open educational resources (OER) at Florida’s state
institutions. It also includes a strong definition of OER and a requirement
that state institutions clearly mark classes using OER in their course
registration systems. If passed, the Florida Postsecondary Academic Library
Network, a unit of the Florida Virtual Campus, would serve as the lead
entity implementing and coordinating the grant program and repository. The
bill already passed the House and was referred to the Senate Appropriations
Committee last week.
