George A Smathers Libraries
The University of Florida's George A. Smathers Libraries seek a candidate who will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination and management of the US Caribbean & Ethnic Florida Digital Newspaper Project. The Project Coordinator reports to the Project Co-PI at the University of Florida (UF) George A. Smathers Libraries and works in close collaboration with University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) project personnel. These duties include technical and administrative activities; overseeing microfilm duplication and digital conversion activities for historic newspapers; managing relationships with vendors and external partners; and assisting in outreach activities, including the development of the project web site and project social media accounts.

The project is part of the National Digital Newspaper Program developed by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the Library of Congress with the objective of digitizing approximately 100,000 pages of historical Florida and Virgin Islands newspapers published between 1836 and 1963 in English, Spanish, and Danish. The digitized newspapers will be included in the Library of Congress' Chronicling America database.
