Position Details

The Macdonald-Kelce Library at The University of Tampa seeks a Special Collections and Archivist Librarian. This collegial and experienced leader will develop key relationships within the University community and advocate for the role of digital and archival curation in support of campus-wide research. This position is responsible for preserving the history of the University, including publications, student and faculty scholarship, and the documents crucial to the University's legacy, in all formats. This position will be responsible for collection strategies, policies and procedures, priorities for digitization, and modes of access for the digital collections. In addition, this person will oversee donations to the collection, which support the curriculum and strategic goals of the University.

Responsibilities
1.    Encourages and supports a sustainable learning culture for a diverse community.
2.    Provides standards-based collection maintenance by sorting, arranging, accessioning, describing, preserving, and classifying materials for collections in the library and at the off-site Library annex; creates print and digital finding aids; and archives rare materials in appropriate formats.
3.    Provides expertise and leadership in management of the University's repository and scholarship support services; promotes and advances the repository and scholarship services; consults on scholarship projects; and instructs students and faculty on digital scholarship tools.
4.    Creates and maintains accessible platforms for collections, managing all aspects of the technology, including upgrades, migration, selection, consolidation, and invoicing.
5.    Describes items, using appropriate tools, including MARC, LOC, Dublin Core, and DataCite metadata schema, developing user-centric collections.
6.    Analyzes current condition of materials, in all formats, and implements appropriate preservation measures for use and long-term storage.
7.    Manages DataCite DOI service and the Library's Google Analytics and YouTube accounts, to increase awareness of collections; investigates and implements new technologies for improving visibility of collections.
8.    Creates digital and Library displays of materials.
9.    Establishes and administers policy guidelines for public access and use of materials, ensuring accessibility and security of collections, as well as confidentiality of private and sensitive information within the collections.
10.    Participates in planning and integration of services with other Library and University departments, including the visibility of the collections in the library's discovery service.
11.    Provides access to collections for internal and external users through reference services, presentations, and one-on-one assistance.
12.    Works with stakeholders to strategically identify potential acquisitions that further the mission of the University.
13.    Ensures effective and efficient workflows that meet archival standards, in all formats.
14.    Supervises and trains staff, including students.
15.    Serves on committees, task forces, and teams as appropriate.
16.    Attends and participates in local, regional, and national professional organizations.
17.    Performs other related duties as assigned.

 Qualifications
1.    Masters' degree in library science from an ALA accredited program.
2.    3-5 years relevant work experience in an archival setting, including leadership and budgetary experience within an academic library.
3.    Ability to effectively manage multiple concurrent projects and find creative approaches to problem solving.
4.    Ability to learn new technology as needed.
5.    Excellent written and communication skills.
6.    Practical experience with digital archival standards; digital preservation tools; digital rights management tools; copyright and open access self-archiving tools; and archives administration tools for description and arrangement of processed materials.

7. Knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn The University of Tampa software programs such as Workday and Microsoft Office.

8. Willingness to embrace new technologies and innovative organizational practices.
9.  Preferred: Experience with Alma Digital, and experience with migrating archive systems.

Summer:  Monday-Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
