[Fla-facrl] Final call for FLA Executive Board Nominations for 2023

Dear colleagues,

FLA is in need of additional nominations for our upcoming slate. We are
especially in need of one or more candidates representing a college or
university library for Vice-President/President-Elect. This is an important
position that will help to lead FLA in the near future. If you have past
experience with FLA, including having served on the Executive Board or
chaired a committee, please consider submitting your name for the slate.

This is a three-year commitment: 2023-2026. You will serve as
Vice-President/President-Elect for the first year, President in your second
year, and Immediate Past President in your third year. The VP and
President's duties are listed in the FLA Leadership Manual (includes
bylaws, committee responsibilities, and policies). Please note that our
committees were reorganized in 2020, but the manual still reflects the

board-approved slate is today, but I have asked the Nominating Committee to
continue to accept nominations until Wednesday, December 14th. After that,
and once the slate is officially announced, nominees can join the slate by
completing a petition that is co-signed by at least 3 other FLA members.

In recent years, values that are core to our profession have come under
scrutiny, especially our support for intellectual freedom and our efforts
to advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and access. In response, FLA is
hard at work to protect these values. Our Intellectual Freedom Committee
recently completed an update to our Intellectual Freedom Manual and our
challenge support form. We are actively monitoring for potential
legislative challenges to intellectual freedom. Our members have spoken at
school board meetings in support of adhering to established collection
policies and engaging with media specialists to craft policies. Our DEIA
Committee created a DEIA Newsletter and is hosting Diversity Discussions
highlighting diverse and inclusive literature. My conference theme for this
year emphasizes diversity and inclusion as the foundation for our future:
