We would like to invite proposals for the annual Panhandle Academic Libraries Conference (virtual) scheduled for Friday, July 16, 2021.

With the support of the Panhandle Library Access Network, we are pleased to present the third annual conference in the Panhandle for academic libraries. Due to the ongoing pandemic, the conference will again be virtual this year.

Our theme is Function and Form: Academic Libraries in Motion.

We seek proposals related to the conference theme in the areas of:

*                     Subject Librarianship

*                     Collaborations

*                     Collections and Funding

*                     Instruction

*                     Technology

*                     Innovation

Share your experiences, both successes and learning opportunities, with your colleagues. We will accept a maximum of TWO proposals per presenter (including individual and panel presentations). No presentation may have more than 5 presenters.

Proposals should be for original work that has not been previously published. Special attention will be given to proposals that:

*                     demonstrate new and innovative thinking;

*                     generate ideas or report research that contribute to ongoing discussion about the future of academic libraries;

*                     contribute ideas for positioning academic librarians to be leaders both on and off campus;

*                     present strategies for implementing new ideas and technology; and

*                     encourage learning among conference attendees.

DEADLINE: Proposals are due by 11:59 pm, EST on Monday, March 26, 2021. Applicants will be notified about their proposal status by April 23, 2021.

SESSION FORMATS:

*                     Panel Discussion: 40-minute discussion with 10-minute Q & A. Two to five panelists will provide multiple, diverse perspectives on a topic or theme, followed by 10 minutes of question and answer from the audience. Proposal abstracts should highlight practical takeaways for attendees.

*                     Presentation: 40-minute talk with 10-minute Q & A. Presenter(s) will speak with the audience for 40 minutes, followed by 10 minutes of question and answer from the audience. Proposal abstracts should highlight practical takeaways for attendees.

*                     Interactive Workshop: 50 minutes. Presenters will engage attendees in active, hands-on learning. Proposal abstracts should present a clear description of the activity as well as highlight the practical takeaways for attendees.

*                     Roundtable: 50 minutes. Attendees are encouraged to participate in informal group discussions on topics of interest. Proposal abstracts should include sample questions that facilitators plan to use.

*                     Pre-recorded Lightning Round: 5 minutes. Presenters will record a lightning round that will be available to conference attendees on-demand.

This project was funded under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Florida's LSTA program is administered by the Department of State's Division of Library and Information Services.

For FY2020-21, 83% of the total costs for the PLAN Continuing Education program ($220,000) is supported by federal money and 17% of this program ($44,000) is supported by local money. The total budget of the project is $264,000.
