*International Documents Librarian*
The International Documents Librarian has broad responsibilities for the
planning, implementation and promotion of international government
information services. This position has specific responsibilities for
collection development, maintenance and outreach activities for the
International Collection and the European Union and United Nations (EU/UN)
depository collections. The International Documents Librarian participates
in the Libraries’ subject liaison program and will work closely with
faculty in the Steven J. Green School of International & Public Affairs
International Relations Department. The International Documents librarian
will also provide reference and consultation services, plan and instruct
information literacy sessions, and develop instructional materials relevant
to the university curriculum. As a member of the Government Resources and
Information Department, the successful candidate will provide government
reference, research assistance, and participate in the Libraries’
information literacy and instruction program. Some weekends may be
required. As a library faculty member, the International Documents
Librarian is expected to participate in professional development, research,
and service activities in order to meet the Libraries’ and University’s
requirements for promotion.
*Responsibilities: *
- Administers the international and EU/UN depository collections.
- Provides collection development for the international documents
collection and International Relations.
- Provides documents reference and microforms assistance, including
extended research assistance/consultations for all patrons.
- Participates in providing reference and information services including
library instruction.
- Collaborates with Technical Services areas to develop processes and
procedures for incoming international documents materials and claiming
missing depository materials as needed.
- Participates in local, regional and national organizations as
appropriate.
- Participates in professional development, research, and service
activities to meet the Libraries’ and University requirements for
promotion.
*Qualifications: *
- ALA-accredited Master’s degree.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with broad populations
including faculty, students, researchers and the general public.
- Demonstrated ability to excel both independently and as a team member
in a collaborative working environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience in Reference and Instruction.
*Desired Qualifications:*
- Two or more years as a librarian in an academic environment.
- Experience with community engagement and outreach.
- Evidence of collaborative decision making.
- Basic knowledge of cataloging.
- Experience with managing international documents depositories and
collections.
