[Fla-facrl] ATTN: South Florida FACRL Colleagues: Call for 2019 FACRL Conference Local Arrangements Committee Chair

The FACRL Board is looking for a current member of FACRL to serve as Chair for this year’s 2019 Local Arrangements Committee. This year’s 2019 FACRL Conference will be held at Nova Southeastern University, October 17th & 18th, so a knowledge of venues and local hotels in south Florida is a plus.

The Local Arrangements Committee will coordinate the local arrangements for the 2019 FACRL Annual Conference; including communication with venue representatives and catering manager, assisting with planning our Thursday reception, coordinating dine-arounds (if applicable), and securing lodging for the Annual Conference. This committee also coordinates registration/attendee check-in on the mornings of the event and at the Thursday reception if necessary.

Time commitment: Conference planning and coordination, most meetings online, summer 2019 – fall (October) 2019

Support: This position partners with a Board liaison, the FACRL President-Elect, and the up to 3 other committee members to be appointed. A timeline, budget, and marketing support will all be provided as well.
Other Major Responsibilities

  1.  To review the budget and expenses of the previous year to determine funds available for catering and Thursday evening reception.
  2.  Communicate funding needs to the Sponsorship Committee and FACRL Treasurer.
  3.  To work with the venue catering manager to finalize the options for the catering at the conference. Determine options for a continental breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack break.
  4.  To identify a location for the Thursday evening reception, reserve the location, and coordinate all logistics.
  5.  To organize and coordinate the Thursday evening dine arounds (at least two restaurants depending on interest).
  6.  To identify a hotel for the room block on Thursday evening and get the room block set up.
  7.  Create a Things to Do in the local area document that can be added to the website.
  8.  To assist with the check in desk the morning of the conference.
  9.  Serve as the liaison between conference vendors and the FACRL Treasurer to ensure catering/lodging expenses are within budget and paid promptly.
