The preliminary proposal should contain a description of the project, a brief survey of the professional literature that would appear later in the literature review, a pilot version of the survey, and a brief resume of the author(s) highlighting their qualifications regarding this topic. While we welcome proposals on any topic that is relevant for small and mid-sized academic libraries, we are specifically looking for proposals on the following topics: - Data research management/services - Collection development policies for college libraries - Mission statements for college libraries - Managing student workers - Faculty collaborations (relationships, collection building, etc.) - Circulation policies (fines, renewals, limits, etc.) - Interlibrary loan The CLIPP series allows library staff to share information on practices and procedures they have implemented to address common issues or concerns. Each CLIPP follows a set structure of three parts (literature review, survey results and analysis, and sample documents), and should both describe library best practices and provide useful, specific examples that libraries can refer to when developing similar policies and procedures of their own. Authors of a CLIPP publication are aided throughout by the CLIPP Committee and an assigned editor. CLIPP authors receive 10% of the royalties on the net revenues from their publication. For your reference, please find author instructions and more information about the CLIPP program here . You can review past CLIP Notes topics here and take a look at the recently published CLIPP on institutional repositories in the ALA Store . CLIPP proposals are accepted throughout the year. *The next Preliminary Proposal Deadline is Monday, June 17*. The CLIPP Committee will send out notifications regarding this round of submissions by Monday, July 1. Through a critical examination of information literacy, teaching and learning, and influence and leadership, the Immersion program curriculum aims to develop critically reflective practitioners who go on to enact change in their practice, projects, or personal and professional goals. Immersion ?19 will be held July 28-August 2, 2019, at Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois. Immersion ?19 calls upon participants to actively engage in critical reflective practice and apply new learning to the development of solutions and strategies that best meet their individual and institutional needs. Participants will engage with common readings, provocative questions, theoretical foundations, and practical tools. Immersion ?19 is designed for participants with any level of experience in libraries. We invite anyone who would like to reflect upon, extend, and deepen their practice as an educator in libraries, regardless of particular job function or title, to co-create an engaged community of learners in partnership with the program facilitators. This program is for you if: * You want to work closely with a group of co-learners and facilitators to critically examine why you do what you do in your educational role in libraries. * You are willing to be a co-learner and co-teacher, helping to build a learning community through honest and brave conversation throughout the week. * You would like to make some kind of change to your practice, ranging from a using a new approach in a classroom, to designing a new service or program, to creating a personal professional development plan. * You are committed to creating more equitable and just learning and working environments. Program Outcomes Immersion Program participants will: * Examine the educational role of librarians in higher education in order to appraise their own position and context of practice, including their institutional setting and larger systems of power and privilege. * Reflect on various conceptions of information literacy in order to develop and apply a personal and, when applicable, shared understanding of information literacy. * Examine and question underlying assumptions about teaching and learning in order to develop critically informed instructional practices. * Engage with theories of influence, change, and leadership in order to develop a critical perspective that addresses issues of power and privilege in higher education and fosters inclusive workplaces and communities. Immersion Program Facilitators During Immersion, nationally-recognized facilitators lead participants through intensive information literacy training and education. Registration Registration materials are available online. May 1, 2019 is the registration deadline. For More Information View the Immersion '19 FAQ for more details about the Immersion '19 Program and the Loyola University campus.
