Curious about the new FSUFILM Pub? Over a third of your fellow Film School alumni are already on it and there are members from every graduating class. In the last week there have been jobs posted, news about alumni screenings, updates about new jobs and awards. Pull up a stool, join your classmates, and add your voice to the mix! If you can’t find your invite, email Brenda (bmills at fsu.edu<mailto:bmills at fsu.edu>) and she’ll hook you up.

From Deadline: Father’s Day weekend was the ideal launchpad for Warner Bros’ Andy Garcia-Gloria Estefan romantic comedy Father of the Bride<https://deadline.com/tag/father-of-the-bride/>, which wound up being the biggest HBO Max<https://deadline.com/tag/hbo-max/> movie premiere ever in its four days, specifically for a title that was exclusively made for the streaming service. As we reported earlier<https://deadline.com/2022/06/father-of-the-bride-warner-bros-paul-perez-1235044472/>, Warner Bros. production executives were won over by screenwriter Matt Lopez’s (BFA 93) fresh take on the romantic comedy/wedding genre. Warner Bros. development exec Paul Perez championed the scribe’s script and won support for it at a studio feature development retreat. Perez, who now has a production deal<https://deadline.com/2022/06/father-of-the-bride-warner-bros-paul-perez-1235044472/> on the Burbank lot, mined the IP out of the studio’s portion of the pre-1986 MGM library; the 1950 Vincente Minnelli-directed title previously was licensed to Disney’s Touchstone label, which made the 1991 Steve Martin-Diane Keaton-Martin Short remake that also spawned a sequel. From Amy Heidish (BFA 95) "After 10+ years at Warner Bros. I made the leap to an exciting opportunity: I'm now a producer at Day For Nite (https://www.dayfornite.com/ ). We do previs and postvis for features, TV and commercials. I'm learning a ton and having a lot of fun. I'm still writing and have been exploring other avenues with it, such as a talk I recently gave at my church: https://youtu.be/mIVW9SreRqk?t=1 "

From Shari Petti (MFA 22) “Two episodes of my web series “Mas Prep” was accepted to the 17th annual Caribbean Tales International Film Festival in Toronto Canada. It’ll screen in September! Currently have 2 episodes on YouTube https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQ78r7FU6LNravTd6rMLj27sXQPLcQ-jm

From Gerard Shaka (MFA Writiing 22): “ My pilot, Smoke & Whispers, an adaptation of my novel, made the Quarterfinals of the 6th Annual Sci-Fi/Fantasy Screenwriting Contest!”

I heard from Dr. Vall Richard Auzenne this week. She is enjoying her new home and life in California although she misses her Tallahassee friends and her FSU family. She says, “Spring semester I taught in Valencia, Spain for the FSU Valencia program. It was a great experience! It was also my first trip abroad in two years! Actually my first trip ANYWHERE other than Santa Barbara & Ojai (I live about a half hour from both) Time goes by so quickly! Hard to believe I’ve been retired 3 years and that I’ve been in my new home almost a year.”

From Oualid MouanMouaness (MFA 97) “Friends in NYC - Last Chance to see 1982 The Film at Quad Cinema in NYC if you haven't seen it already, today is it at the venerable Cinema. It's the last day! “Hello everyone! My name is Travaé, I’m a recent BFA grad c/o 2022. I’m moving to NY and in search of a room for rent. I’m hoping to move in July 1st but due to the short notice anytime between July-August works fine! I’ve been having a hard time qualifying for places as I didn’t work in school so I thought I’d post here. Any help is deeply appreciated! A little about me, I spend most my free time writing, watching movies, reading, screenshotting paintings, and learning about anything. I’m ambiverted so home for me is a safe haven and a place to recharge but I’m also very friendly and like to tell jokes. I like to keep things clean and organized and I’m also into interior design/aesthetic. Pet wise - I have one 5 y/o dog. (Thankfully he’s like me) He’s quiet, low energy, friendly, and does his own thing. I keep him and his shared areas very clean as he has sensitive skin and a sensitive stomach. He gets along with other animals, he was raised with 4 cats and then later lived with 2 new cats and a dog. He also respects home boundaries and is hyper intelligent due to his mix. My email is travaedavis1 at gmail.com<mailto:travaedavis1 at gmail.com> and my Instagram is @tttravae!”
