Very exciting premiere! Very grateful to the FSU community, without which film wouldn't be possible!

Congratulations to Keisha Ansley (BFA 05) who is now Story Editor at Black-ish!!!

From Jon Martin (MFA Writing 19) “I recently started as a Writers' PA on an AMC series and I'm loving it! Many thanks to Vince Calandra for trusting me with this position. I'd also like to thank Shandton Williams (MFA Writing '17) for being an incredible teammate on this show, and for helping me to hit the ground running. Many thanks to Lizzie Perrin (MFA Writing '19) for giving me the recommendation, as well as Julianna Baggott for first notifying me about Vince's posting in the Warren Report. It's always encouraging to see the FSU Mafia going strong!”

Don Guarisco (BFA 96) “Hello all - just dropping a line to let anyone interested know about High Bias Mixtape, a podcast co-produced by FSU Film School alumnus Neil Butler (BFA95) . It's built around the musical interests of its hosts, who all became friends as teenagers and look back on how that mid-'80s to early '90s era was their introduction to an English-influenced alternative rock aesthetic. Neil invited me to contribute to the most recent episode to discuss obscure new wave music for its introductory segment. The main body of the episode is a discussion of albums from 1986 that were notable/influential for the hosts as teens. You can access the podcast via iTunes, Spotify or the following direct link: https://www.hubcaphouse.org/podcast/episode/47ba6e15/06-1986<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/www.hubcaphouse.org/podcast/episode/47ba6e15/06-1986__;!!PhOWcWs!jYF0a4ueoBJDpKfKh4Nz8xB_6aeDylVRT7zExOD-x16bMkdi0ykbiSJJCXYFFJg$>

From Shane Spiegel (BFA 11) “I'm staffing up! I recently started at Nickelodeon's Noggin, as Senior Producer overseeing live action. Noggin is a preschool division of Nickelodeon, and we're making some really cool stuff. I'm looking for producers (story and creative), editors, writers, both project-based and full-time! So if you're interested in preschool content, please email me at shane.spiegel at nick.com<mailto:shane.spiegel at nick.com>!”

from the Tallgrass Film Festival: Our new Gordon Parks Award is awesome, and a selection of films will be selected to compete in the category and regular categories. Best news - free submission. here is the spiel: Open to films of any production budget from any country with a director that self-identifies as Black, African-American or African-Diaspora. Submissions are free for this category and also will be considered “in competition” screening in the festival and will be eligible for the Best Narrative Feature Audience Award and The Golden Strands Outstanding Narrative Feature Film Award.
