This marks our third year with HollyShorts, screening at the TCL 6 Chinese Theatres, part of Grauman's Chinese Theatre. The historic Chinese Theatre is famous for its palatial design and forecourt filled with the hand and footprints of movie stars like Marilyn Monroe and Clark Gable. The TCL 6 is on the third level of the attached Hollywood and Highland complex. We hope you will stick around after the show and join us at Sid's Bar & Lounge located in the theatre lobby, where you will have the opportunity to meet some of the filmmakers and catch up with alumni and friends.

The Eventbrite sight is up and running. All free tickets currently available have been claimed but we expect more to be released. Waiting list still in effect - most have already been accommodated. As we have more tickets to release, the site will start from the top of the list and give each waiting person 24 hours to claim the released ticket. If they do not, it goes to the next on the list and so on. Or you can purchase your ticket through festival website:http://www.hollyshorts.com/

For those of you in LA, we’ll be there Monday through Thursday next week. If you can’t make it to the Thursday screening/reception and would like to get together with any one of us (Reb, Brenda, Sabrina, Tony, Brett and me), text me at 850 524 0063.

Chris Alender (BFA 98) is directing The Old Ways which be shooting 23 days at the Soapbox Films soundstage and a few days in Puerto Rico for exteriors. Lot's of FSU Film and Communications alums on this one—more updates soon!

From Alex Durham (BFA 06)“I cut two historical docudramas recently. Rise of Empires Ottoman premiered on Netflix a few weeks ago and quickly became one of the most binge-watched shows in the world. I had the privilege of editing the series alongside FSU Film School alum Alessandro Soares. Narrated by Charles Dance (Game of Thrones, The Crown), Rise of Empires tells the epic 15th-century story of Mehmed the Conqueror, chronicling his astonishing rise from 13-year-old Sultan to toppling Constantinople and becoming ruler of the Ottoman Empire.

From Nicole Rogers (MFA 12) “Just wanted to share a musical collaboration I just completed with composer Shawn Barnes. I had the great opportunity to sing on his cinematic trailer cover version of the song "Zombie" by The Cranberries (YouTube link is here)<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nwuXNh02mo&feature=youtu.be&fbclid=IwAR178e__RasJ-Z4IE-lg_XpYVXcubTGhAvh3nHA22evSaxUOSYqcZrfdpik__;!!PhOWcWs!guqvWTYKGW2OOCLhHEKHg5I1Lu9p3NGM0iDirwPCgzo-mjiNIMJdNTmRXbrVr34$>. It was so much fun to do, and I just thought there may be alums in the market for music like this. Shawn is great to work with and anyone looking to license custom cinematic songs for their movies/trailers should reach out to him.

A couple other cinematographers and I will be discussing our use of the Panasonic Varicam, EVA1 and S1H cameras, and their versatility on passion project shorts all the way up to commercials and feature films. After the panel, audience members will be able to interact with the cameras and ask questions.
