Subject: [Warren Report] Warren Report 1.31.20
From Shane Spiegel (BFA 11) “Proud to say I've hit my new record of FSU crew! In November I shot a show called "Think Fast and Furious<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjz7L3-F_k8&t=1s__;!!PhOWcWs!kgzwylxXFnbM0-9izH4yu_flbHY4HizoI2b6pLSzgM386v_D2BjNXDYY8iJz-PQ$>," where we put kids in the passenger seat of a race car as they answered questions for cash. All promoting the new DreamWorks show "Fast and Furious Spy Racers." This had a HUGE FSU crew! First, the project was coordinated by the incomparable Ellen Marmol (MFA 19), who every producer should be hitting up immediately. Will Sampson (BFA 09) was Director of Photography, Camera Operators had Hunter Truman (BFA 15) and Victor Ingles (BFA 16) , 1AC was Scott Marino (BFA 19) Art Director was Millie Jenkins (BFA 19), Editor was Justin Reager (BFA 11) , and Costume Designer Laura Ortiz. And we had a PA Nation of Key Set PA Billy Kalstrom, Eric Hoyer, Joyce Guan, Tianjun Gao, Martin Thuernau, Yue Zhao, Jon Martin, (all MFA 19) Jonpaul Rodriguez (MFA 18) . We also had a second crew shooting all social promotion for the show: Carissa Dorson (BFA 11) was Director of Photography, Cam Op Brooke Zbytniewski (BFA ADA 17) 1AC Iliana Ipes (BFA 18) , and Gaffer Aaron Pagniano (BFA 12) . It's always amazing to have FSU alum that span multiple years on a project. Feels like we're doing something right! Finally, this project was produced by Will Sampson and my production company, Can't Change the West<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/www.cantchangethewest.com/__;!!PhOWcWs!kgzwylxXFnbM0-9izH4yu_flbHY4HizoI2b6pLSzgM386v_D2BjNXDYYIqMt2Vc$>.

Greg O'Bryant (MFA '04) and T. Justin Ross (MFA '07) served as Executive Producers while Greg also served a hand as co-editor. Steve Acevedo (MFA '05) served as an associate producer on the project .

From David Liz (BFA 10) “I am finishing post on a feature horror film I wrote and Directed called "The Welder". Very excited to have had the opportunity to work on this with fellow film school alumnus Torch Eberhart (BFA 10) . We are submitting to festivals in February, wish us luck. And follow our journey on IG: thewelderfilm
From Aileen Carpenter (BFA 15). “ I graduated from FSU film school in 2015 and I am now an associate attorney at Lewis Brisbois in Atlanta. My current job and my experience in film school may appear disjointed but it's far from it. Before I started film school, I knew that my passion was connecting to people and telling their story in a way that would help them. As a litigator, I defend corporations and class actions in toxic tort cases. Typically, I will interview clients and conduct research similar to the pre-production phase.Next, I will create a theme to tell their story based on the facts. The theme has to be something catchy like a logline that will resonate with the judge or jury. Then, I'll take the facts and create their version of the story. Thinking on your feet is a huge part of my job and I know that flexibility is important during film shoots as well. The most rewarding thing is seeing how my work impacts others. I am so grateful for my time at FSU film school because it definitely prepared me to take on this career path.”
From Alex Digiacomo (BFA 13) “"Hello everyone! I am directing toy commercials with toddlers for major brands,<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/www.youtube.com/watch?v=0j0T4zFp8fI__;!!PhOWcWs!iBaybF0LYTs22C0YYO_7JSDZ0l86ifKJxKKizuyTN2P0zhvaMBtrOwx3VjcFoX8$> and am definitely looking to expand in this niche because the feedback I have had with working for kids has been tremendously good. As I freelance well enough to survive without debt, I have been working on a mobile-game that reinforces reading habits by rewarding the act of reading. I am working only on prototyping now<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IlckigienM__;!!PhOWcWs!iBaybF0LYTs22C0YYO_7JSDZ0l86ifKJxKKizuyTN2P0zhvaMBtrOwx3CR1A_OY$>, I can do everything except for the coding, the main integral part, if anyone has Unity game development skills, I would be very interested in talking, who knows, maybe even a freelance position could be a possibility."
From Aaron Pagniano (BFA 12) “Sunset on the River Styx, my first feature film as Writer/ Director, is premiering at Cinequest Film Festival this March! We crowdfunded this horror/ thriller back in 2016 with the help of an incredible amount of FSU alumni. The crew was full of FSU folks too. Attending the fest along with the film will be myself, the cast, DP Idan Menin (BFA '12), and Editor Michael Felker (BFA '10). If anyone is going to be in the Bay Area, we would love to see you come out and support! And if you are interested in hearing more about the movie, you can follow our social media feeds or contact me directly through them!
From Rodrigu Rocho-Campos (MFA 05) “Hi there, I want to share some news in regards of my journey through screen dance filmmaking. 2019 was quite a prolific year for me, even though the frequent ups and downs. It was a good year to promote my 4th screendance short at festivals all over the world. There had been quite a few surprises with festivals I thought I would be accepted (and didn't) and new ones that came along through research and networking. At the end of 2019, my short named 4~ had been accepted to 29 screendance festivals in North and South America, Europe, Middle East and Australia: Finalist at Los Angeles CineFest, Oklahoma Dance Film Festival, Seyr Festival of Movement, Tehran, Sans Souci Festival of Dance Cinema: Brazil Edition, Sans Souci Festival of Dance Cinema, Boulder, Colorado, 4th Braga International Video Dance Festival, Portugal – First Prize, Lights Dance Festival, Toronto, Scotland’s Screen.dance Festival - Artist Presentation & Official Selection, [C]Screen Screendance Spring, Spain, Prague Dance Film Festival, ScreenDance Festival, Stockholm, EnCore: Dance on Film, USA, R.I.F.F. Dance.Art.Cinema, Norway, International Meeting on Video Dance, Valencia, Spain, Moving iMages Video Dance, Cyprus, Fuselage Dance Film Festival, Seattle, Lisbon Film Rendezvous, Portugal, Dance Cinema Organisation, Australia, InShadow Screendance Festival, Lisbon, Dance on Screen, Austria, Film Fest by Rogue Dancer, DanzaTac, Tenerife, Thessaloniki CineDance International, International VideoDanzaBA, Buenos Aires, Mexico City Video Dance Festival, VideoMovimiento, Colombia, Movimiento en Movimiento, Mexico, Breaking8, Cagliari, Italy, Short Waves Festival, Poland, March 2020. I also had the chance to present the film at Scotland’s Screen.dance Festival for the Artist Presentation, at Perth, which was so fulfilling sharing the process with other filmmakers who have opted to tell stories through dance and movement. I had the chance as well to be part of two publications in Spain: one from [C] Screen Screendance Spring and the other part of the 6th International Meeting on Screendance, Valencia. And finally, back in December, Dance Cinema Org., Australia, featured my short at their website showcasing the short, pictures, and a podcast interview on the story, concept, and production process. You can still check it out at: https://www.dancecinema.org/archives-2019.html<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/www.dancecinema.org/archives-2019.html__;!!PhOWcWs!i6P1unEtyp11eSaO-KdpSjEE4_86nJvAxu_cKpOO__evLi5uO2DGPenQyqC_qzQ$> Additional info at: https://filmfreeway.com/RodrigoRocha-Campos<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/filmfreeway.com/RodrigoRocha-Campos__;!!PhOWcWs!i6P1unEtyp11eSaO-KdpSjEE4_86nJvAxu_cKpOO__evLi5uO2DGPenQBcMg_5k$> and https://vimeo.com/287351664<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/vimeo.com/287351664__;!!PhOWcWs!i6P1unEtyp11eSaO-KdpSjEE4_86nJvAxu_cKpOO__evLi5uO2DGPenQ4SgpUoI$> You are also welcome to check the trailer of my next screendance called Chapter 5.
