From Matt Lopez (BFA 93): “ Very excited about two new TV projects: “Reunited” for NBC, which I’ll be writing and executive producing, and “Rosarito Beach” for CBS, which I’m executive producing alongside Jennifer Lopez (no relation). Also nearing completion of post-production on “GONE” for NBC International, a 12-episode series which airs in 2018. From Eric Leong (MFA 06) “Here's an interview I did on KTLA's morning show promoting the Museum of Failure. I blame the low volume on a lack of a good boom operator. http://ktla.com/2017/12/15/museum-of-failure/<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__ktla.com_2017_12_15_museum-2Dof-2Dfailure_&d=DwMFaQ&c=HPMtquzZjKY31rtkyGRFnQ&r=XK14IrgIaB-M4DhdHvEVmw&m=qUFsRkueJG1rsT80Bf97VGuU_b9L9d4H9i53sm_bvEI&s=SqeiZhUHSXoGwDTDR9MJYeKs92OGEIevmnI9kren9PA&e=> “

From Shaughnessy Hare (BFA 00) “I was Sound Effects Editor / Sound Designer on Jumanji. I worked on it for over six months. My wife Michelle was in the Loop Group. She did a lot of kids voices as she has a talent for making her voice very small. I’ve also just completed a show for Starz called “Counterpart” starring JK Simmons, and I am currently working on "Lost In Space" for Netflix and "Jack Ryan" for Amazon Video . It has been a very busy 2017 for us! “

Congratulations to Justin Sadler and Jared Hopkins (Both BFA 17) who just became members of IATSE 479 in Atlanta. Justin most recently worked an office job on Atlanta S2 and Jared was a base camp electric on the same show.

From Harold Apter (screenwriting faculty on leave from the Film School): The Czech TV series that I have developed, "The Lynching", has been picked up for co-production by ARTE, the French/German network, and will therefore be broadcast throughout Europe, subtitled in English, as well as inside the Czech Republic. I will be serving as Showrunner and will also direct the first and final episodes of the season. Principle photography begins March 15th 2018 and the series will air beginning in October 2018.”

Welcome to Marisol Gomez-Mouakad who will be joining the Film School faculty as an editing teacher this semester. Marisol has been teaching at the Universidad del Sagrado Corazon, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and managed to successfully complete her classes this semester despite not having any electricity (which they still don’t have)!

From Gary Wilkerson (MFA Writing 15) “I'm excited and overjoyed to announce that I've been selected as a fellow in the Roger Ebert Fellowship at Sundance! I'll have the chance to hobnob with the hobnobbers of Hobbywood. But mostly just awkwardly swirl my drink, standing outside of the social circles.” https://www.rogerebert.com/festivals-and-awards/ebert-fellows-announced-for-sundance-2018<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.rogerebert.com_festivals-2Dand-2Dawards_ebert-2Dfellows-2Dannounced-2Dfor-2Dsundance-2D2018&d=DwMFaQ&c=HPMtquzZjKY31rtkyGRFnQ&r=XK14IrgIaB-M4DhdHvEVmw&m=Hxp6FCAApX0jVGe7xkb48vW7zPqC7N7woXdiE4emlTY&s=u_w9bwSxHoOOv7RRE8LNDU-7tmsijMnm0-7lpmPdvyU&e=> My last gig was showrunners assistant on the second season of Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency. Then I took a little break to catch up on some writing. Now I'm working as an assistant to Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker, a team of TV comedy writers.”

From Billy Hanson (BFA 05) “I wrote an issue of a great anthology series for Zenescope comics, called Grimm Tales of Terror. My issue (Volume 3, Issue #11 - War of the Worlds) was released on 12/20/17, and is now available on the shelves, on Comixology, or wherever/however comics are sold. It will only work for about 5 days and then they have to notify filmmakers by Jan. 10.

Hope everyone had a great holiday break! We managed an extra day since local schools were closed due to a threat of severe weather, which actually didn’t turn out to amount to much. VERY cold weather, a little sleet, and about 10 minutes of a beautiful snow with dollar size flakes!
