From Nathan Alexander (BFA 99) “Just came back from the 2017 ProMaxBDA Awards, honoring the best in entertainment marketing, where I brought home two statuettes for Hulu! The sizzle I produced for Hulu's 2016 Upfront won Bronze for Best Internal Marketing Sizzle, and my 2016 Summer Hulu campaign won Silver for Best Image Campaign for Online, Cable or Satellite.

From Nicholas Economides (MFA 09) “The PromaxBDA Global Excellence Awards were held yesterday in LA, the premiere intl creative advertising and promotion awards, and we won a record 8 statues for our GAS (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) promotion for National Geographic's Mars campaign and The Walking Dead's season 7 campaign. We worked really hard to get this far and it's a great feeling to see your work rewarded. Prior to the launch of Mars, we shot at the European Astronaut Centre, where we interviewed astronauts and other experts of spaceflight from the European Space Agency and produced a mini web-series that was posted exclusively on Facebook. Apart from being absolutely in awe of having met these incredible people, the entire journey of this production was truly inspiring. As for The Walking Dead, we broke several records through our social media efforts, which included producing innovative thematic shorts from old footage that were based on prevalent themes of the show, and a first-ever Facebook Live Game, in which users could interact with YouTube influencers who maneuvered a Zombie-infested urban landscape outside of Berlin, being directed by Facebook fans' live posts and comments. It's been a wild year and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work on such wonderful projects. Onward to new and exciting challenges! I work at FOX Networks Group out of Munich. Have been there for nearly two years and the time has gone by in a flash. I get to produce promo content for the TV channels Fox, National Geographic, Nat Geo Wild, and Nat Geo People.

From Nicole Machon (BFA 15) “I just started as Production Secretary on Season 4 of "Mozart in the Jungle", YAY!

From Geoege Reasner (MFA 94) “This past week I had the pleasure of shooting a fun, ambitious short film "Someday" for writer/director JS Mayank. We were all crammed inside the first class cabin of a 767 on the stages of Air Hollywood. Alums on the shoot included Gaffer Jacob Abrams (BFA 11), 2nd AC Erica Chan (MFA 15) and Grip Jeremy Bolden (MFA 16). Always good to have the FSU family help make me look good...”

From Joe Greco (BFA 94) “Honored and excited to be recognized by one of my favorite organizations - Assembly 22 of the Society of American Magicians, Los Angeles, California<https://www.facebook.com/SAMAssembly22/?fref=mentions> for "Best Parlor Magic." The Society is steeped in history and the Los Angeles Assembly has been around for over 80 years. Past & present members include Floyd G. Thayer, Dai Vernon and David Copperfield. Harry Houdini was the first president of the Society of American Magicians<https://www.facebook.com/Society-of-American-Magicians-156232331084581/?fref=mentions>. Thanks to Assembly President Kim Hallinger<https://www.facebook.com/kim.hallinger?fref=mentions> and everyone at SAM for such a fun evening!”

From Jonas Schubach (MFA 1st year) ““Dirty Money,” which I made at the University of Memphis, was a nominee for “Best Overall” and “Best Editing” at the 2017 Flamingo Film Festival.”

From Sarah Beth Shapiro: MIND READING, a 4 minute comedy short written & directed by Stewart McAlpine and produced by Sarah Beth (both MFA 06) will premiere at The Palm Springs International ShortFest on June 22. Thanks to many wonderful FSU alum friends who gave their time and talent to this "no budget" short: Sherwin Lau and Mitch Fowler (MFA '06), who did incredible color correction at The Creative Media Institute in NM. Brad and Lucie Hawkins (MFA '06, married) who made us custom VFX elements. Anyone in post should check out their services at fxelements.com. Tiffany Moore ('05) did production design, Paul Seetachitt ('07) AD, and a three-man crew is all you need if those peeps are Wade Stuckwisch ('06), Colin Whitman (BFA 06) and Jerry Kontogiorgis (MFA '07). https://www.psfilmfest.org/2017-shortfest/short-films/mind-reading If anyone's going to the fest, let us know so we can catch up! The short will play next at Rhode Island International Film Festival in August.
