Congratulations to Susan Shackelford Dawes (MFA 93) and to Victor Nunez (Film School faculty member), both of whom have been invited to join the Motion Picture Academy! Susan says” Today, I was invited to join the Motion Picture Academy as a member of the Sound Branch. Yay! It's an honor and professional achievement to be granted membership by my peers. Thanks to the folks at FSU who started me down this road! In 1993, I learned to use the film school's first ProTools (v2.5, back then) on my MFA thesis film 'Bathing Beauty,' and 23 years later, I'm still using ProTools (v12.5) today, but moreover, I simply enjoyed filmmaking back then and still enjoy it all now. I'm grateful, proud, and very happy! :-)”
>From Ben Epstein (BFA 09) “I led the team that recently took home the PROMAX GOLD award for their piece for Direct TV: "Behind the Scenes Promotion: Long-Short Form" - "Undeniable with Joe Buck Behind the Scenes". While the attached shows him as the Director/Editor of the piece, he also was its primary producer.” The PROMAX Awards are the "Oscars" of the marketing/promotional world. Ben's piece was entered by DirectTV and received the award in New York last Friday. Ben currently works for Direct TV producing/directing/editing their inside channel's promotional pieces. He has worked with James Taylor and other musicians, lots of sports figures, obviously Joe Buck, etc.

>From Spencer Frankeberger (MFA 15) “A Jingle A Go-Go: The Musical LIVE (a staged version of my D2) premiered as a workshop reading this past Saturday and Sunday at the Eclectic Company Theatre in North Hollywood, and several FSU alums were in attendance. I plan to expand the show to about an hour for the Hollywood Fringe Festival in 2017, and the show is currently being pitched as a mainstage show at the Eclectic Company Theatre as well as Conundrum Theatre Company here in Los Angeles, and I am writing the book, music, and lyrics for the show but would also love to raise funds to continue my creative outlet and create a new way to tell this unique story with a fundraiser--currently only a few days left, and we still have a long way to go: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/a-jingle-a-go-go-the-musical-live-on-stage/x/14321370#/ I also have digital copies of the show that will be available for purchase or a FREE perk with any $50 donation or higher.”
