As we all prepare to see each other in Jacksonville later this month, we would also like you to start thinking about nominating yourself for an FCLCA board member position. An official call for nominations will be coming out at the end of April! Whether you are a new professional looking to get more involved in the Learning Center community here in Florida or a seasoned professional with knowledge and experience to pass on, there may be a position that fits you this year! The positions coming open and short descriptions are listed below. Upcoming Positions: * Vice President (Three-Year Term): The Vice-President serves a three-year term, advancing to President in the second year and Immediate Past President in the third. In the first year, the Vice-President supports the association by assuming presidential duties when needed, chairing the Professional Development Committee, coordinating the annual conference, and overseeing additional professional development initiatives. * In the second year, the officer becomes President, serving as the principal leader of the association, presiding over meetings, coordinating statewide business, acting as liaison to professional associations (including ICLCA), and ensuring continuity and transition across all offices. * In the third year, the officer serves as Immediate Past President, acting as parliamentarian and advisor, chairing the Nominations Committee, coordinating elections, and mentoring new learning centers. * Treasurer (Two-Year Term): The Treasurer oversees the financial management of FCLCA and ensures the accuracy and integrity of all fiscal operations. The Treasurer prepares and presents the annual financial statement to the membership, collaborates with the Board to develop the annual budget, and ensures that all required tax and legal documents are properly completed and submitted. The role also includes collecting and accounting for membership dues, conference revenue, and all other funds associated with the organization. * Marketing & Publication Officer (Two-Year Term): The Marketing/Publications Officer leads FCLCA's communication and outreach efforts. They manage the FCLCA website and chair the Marketing/Publication committee, which manages the FCLCA website and develops and supports publications (such as the FCLCA newsletter). The officer also collaborates with the Annual Conference Planning Committee to support promotional needs. Working closely with Board members and the broader membership, the Marketing/Publications Officer guides the creation and development of association publications, including digital initiatives such as online forums and newsletters.
