ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The Student Success division at the University of South Florida, is comprised of 60 departments, providing students with academic support, engagement opportunities, health & wellness services and enhancement of the educational experience. The Academic Success Center (ASC) is part of Undergraduate Studies and is a partner in the USF Tampa Library Learning Commons. Offering a variety of academic support services, the mission of the department is to strengthen students? ability to learn effectively and efficiently. This is accomplished through learning center best practices that are content centered and seek to understand the role of tutoring and writing support at USF and adapt to meet the diverse needs of students, faculty, and staff.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Academic Services Administrator reports to the ASC Director and works in direct collaboration with the Assistant Director of Tutoring and Writing Services. The major function of the Academic Services Administrator is to assist in the daily operations of the ASC including recruitment, training, and supervision of all ASC student employees with primary responsibilities to the centers Federal Work Study student ambassadors. Other duties will involve assisting with payroll and timesheet auditing and submission process; direct oversight of department website and social media in regard to content development; manage email inboxes and route inquiries and requests accordingly; assist with data collection and assessment; work collaboratively with various university partners and represent the ASC in outreach events and initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct oversight of Federal Work Study student ambassador staff which includes recruiting, training, onboarding, supervising, and scheduling
Assists with recruiting, training, onboarding, supervising, and scheduling tutors, consultants, and graduate student coordinators
Manages department website and social media through content development and upkeep; and maintains all email inboxes
Assists with oversight of daily operations of the ASC; collects and assesses data; and conducts outreach and represents the ASC by serving on cross functional teams, committees, and workgroups
Assists with payroll: collecting, auditing and processing timesheets
Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires a Master's degree in education or a field of study related to the academic program, or a Bachelor's degree in those same fields with a minimum of two years of experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in educational leadership, multimedia or a field related to college learning assistance. Two years in college learning assistance
SPECIAL SKILLS/TRAINING:
Problem solving and critical thinking is needed to be able to resolve student concerns on the spot; extensive people/customer service experience; cultural competency and sensitivity in working with diverse student populations; strong leadership and mentoring abilities to lead both student employees and work with the students utilizing ASC services; must have in depth experience with using social media (FB, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and others) as well as web page and graphic design skills; working knowledge of best practices in HE learning support; strong presentation skills including teaching, training, and facilitating curriculum and program content; familiar with HR processes to include recruiting, vetting, hiring and payroll; knowledge of student development and adult learning theories.
