Dear colleagues,

The Academic Learning Center (ALC) at Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) has an opening for a Math Center Specialist.  The position is a full-time, 12-month position.
This is an exciting opportunity for a professional in search of a stimulating environment, fabulous students, and terrific colleagues!

The ALC is the college's academic support center serving all BRCC students.  It and the centers within are peer assistance centers and employ tutors and learning assistants who are current BRCC students as well as students from the local 4-year institutions.  The Math Center Specialist will have the responsibility for developing and implementing a math academic support program and related services within the larger learning center unit of the college and will work closely with the center Director, the Writing Center Specialist, and the center Coordinator.  Projected start date is August 1, 2016.


Master's Degree or higher in a STEM area, education, or related field.
College classroom teaching experience, demonstrated knowledge of pedagogy, and experience developing curriculum.
Knowledge of experiential and collaborative methodologies to improve student learning as well as experience tutoring.
Proficiency in the discipline, excellent interpersonal skills, strong written and oral skills, and ability to work with diverse faculty, staff, and students.
Experience with program development, evaluation, marketing, supervision, and staff development.
Ability to work as a member of a team; ability to work evenings and Saturdays and travel to sites.
