The INTO USF Center was established in 2010 on the Tampa campus of the University of South Florida. This Center offers programs that serve international students, providing academic and language support while students are either preparing for university study in the English Language Program, or are completing university courses in the Pathway Program. These programs provide extensive support toward academic and social success of the students. One aspect of the academic support provided is the INTO USF Tutoring Center, which serves all students in all academic programs.
This Tutoring Coordinator is a full-time position that oversees daily operations of the Tutoring Center at INTO USF. The primary role of the Coordinator includes overseeing student and tutor use of the Tutoring Center, scheduling of tutors, compiling data, and managing drop-in tutoring and front desk assistants. This position requires a non-standard 40-hour work week.
The Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating resources and space of the INTO USF Tutoring Center for students and tutors. Oversee the tutor scheduling program as well as collecting and compiling data related to the Tutoring Center. Responsible for managing informational aspects of the Tutoring Center which include maintaining accurate records, updating website information, in addition to overseeing the hiring, training and managing of the front desk staff. Manage a small team of drop-in tutors at the computer lab. Further responsibilities include organizing tutor schedules, monitoring tutor reports, monitoring time sheets, and maintaining a Canvas group along with other educational materials.
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with four years of experience in office or administrative positions. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substituted at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
The preferred qualifications include having a Bachelor's degree with at least two year experience in a related position; experience working with students at the collegiate level in a multicultural and/or international environment; familiarity with GradesFirst; knowledge of and experience with USF policies and procedures relating to academics.
The special skills necessary include having strong leadership and organizational skills; ability to work collaboratively with others; strong communication skills, both written and verbal; proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint); knowledge of various database programs such as GradesFirst; ability to prioritize, dealing with multiple tasks at the same time; excellent attention to detail; excellent time management skills; ability to keep detailed, accurate records; ability to communicate with students from a wide range of linguistic, ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
