How Do I Contact My Academic Dean's Office?
The best way to communicate with your Academic Dean's office in the College of Arts and Sciences<mailto:AS-Advising at fsu.edu?subject=> is via email (AS-Advising at fsu.edu<mailto:AS-Advising at fsu.edu?subject=>). Use this email address to submit any form requiring Academic Dean's permission (e.g., late drop forms, etc.), as well as to request to petition to drop course(s) or withdraw (dropping all courses) from a current or prior semester (up to one calendar year in the past).
Do not send emails to as-advising at messages.fsu.edu<mailto:as-advising at fsu.edu?subject=>; emails sent to this address are not received by our office.

Contact the College of Arts and Sciences Dean's Office - Student Affairs<mailto:AS-Advising at fsu.edu?subject=> via email (AS-Advising at fsu.edu<mailto:AS-Advising at fsu.edu?subject=>) if your late drop form has not been processed after five business days.
The College of Arts and Sciences Dean's Office – Student Affairs will contact you via your FSU email account in the event we cannot approve a late drop for you (e.g., because you do not have a late drop available, you did not complete the forms correctly, etc.). Please continue to check your FSU email account daily to ensure there are no problems with your late drop request.
How do I change a course to a Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory (S/U) grading basis?
Students may choose to change only one letter-graded class a semester to a Satisfactory/ Unsatisfactory (S/U) grading basis per summer session by 11:59 p.m. on the prorated 7th-Week deadline for the course in question. This means that students who elected to take a Summer B foreign language course on a S/U basis may also elect to take a Summer C foreign language course on a S/U grading basis providing that the requests are submitted by the prorated 7th-week deadline for each course.
The class must meet one of the following requirements:
* The class is a language class (Spanish, French, etc.) used for Arts and Sciences foreign language proficiency requirement; or
* The class is being used as an elective towards the minimum 120 hours for graduation and/or the minimum 45 hours at the 3000/4000 level.
Courses satisfying major requirements (including prerequisites and elective hours within the major), minor requirements, or those being used to meet general education or other university graduation requirements CANNOT be taken on a S/U basis.
Students requesting to take a non-foreign language course on a S/U basis must email as-advising at fsu.edu<mailto:AS-Advising at fsu.edu?subject=> prior to submitting the S/U form through Student Central to state why the course is being taken (e.g., as elective hours only towards the 120 hours needed for graduation), and acknowledging that the course, if taken on a S/U basis, cannot be used to satisfy Liberal Studies, General Education, major, or minor graduation requirements. Students receiving approval to take a non-foreign language course on a S/U basis will be directed to submit their form online.
1. Begin by clicking the My Classes tile from your Student Central Homepage.
1. After clicking the tile, the Permit to Change Course to S/U link becomes active in the left-hand navigation area if both you and any of the courses you are enrolled in are eligible for a graded-to-S/U switch.
1. You are prompted to complete a form allowing you to select the course whose grading basis you want to change. Select the course from the Class drop down box.
1. Then click Submit.
2. To access your in-progress or completed S/U Grade Basis Change request and view its status and comments, navigate to My Tasks > In Progress / Completed Forms > S/U Grade Basis Change.
3. Upon approval, you will receive a confirmation email. If your request is denied, you will see an alert appearing as a notification flag in the upper-right corner of Student Central, as well as receiving an automatically generated email.
If the online form is not available to you, it is because you do not meet the criteria outlined above. In these cases, if you have an FSU cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher, you can complete the “Undergraduate S/U Form<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://cl.s11.exct.net/?qs=b6f0584b8c0728c33a936efe7c64da1dd3288dded97702fb3ebb6636c9058b99d4f4f46ef5cd71d86233868e2fc3e4d5564ab3b5bea77a76__;!!PhOWcWs!hY_FpVZ5OaioTW17-Abjw058OqZa7FDN4dkmCP_BkvutKE4fgyDSsHayExyRHgSc$>,” found on the Registrar’s website, and email the completed form to the College of Arts and Sciences Academic Dean's Office - Student Affairs office at as-advising at fsu.edu<mailto:as-advising at fsu.edu?subject=> by 11:59 p.m. on the prorated 7th Week deadline).
No exceptions will be approved after the deadline.
