From sga-cogsspeaker at fsu.edu Tue Sep 3 11:39:08 2024 From: sga-cogsspeaker at fsu.edu (COGSSpeaker) Date: Tue, 3 Sep 2024 15:39:08 +0000 Subject: [COGS] Clarification about CivicPlus Email Message-ID: Happy Tuesday everyone, This morning, you should have received an email from CivicPlus asking you to validate your account. CivicPlus, for those who joined after we had the initial conversations about it, will soon become our home for agendas, minutes, voting, and other great things that should hopefully make our meetings run even more smoothly. We will be implementing this system over the next few meetings, as well as hopefully providing training opportunities for you to understand how to use some of the features in the program. For right now, all you need to do is set up your account on CivicPlus. Please go to the COGS Board Portal and click "Forgot Your Password" to reset your password to whatever you'd like it to be. Please try to do that at some point this week. We will provide further information over the coming weeks. Can't wait to see everyone on Monday, Jack Rowan Speaker of the Congress of Graduate Students Representative, College of Law Seat 1 Florida State University, 2026 SGA-COGSSpeaker at fsu.edu -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... We have people to cover the shifts from 12-2pm, but we really need someone to run setup and the first part of the fair. Please email myself and Jack ASAP if you can help. We still need two (2) representatives to volunteer for the Tech Fee Committee. The Committee is a great way to learn about the different projects going on across the university and to advocate for your college's projects. Last year, the Colleges of Music, Ed, Medicine, and Arts & Sciences were some of our largest recipients of Tech Fee project funds, so those of you from those colleges might get strong benefits out of participating. I especially recommend it to some of our newer representatives as a great way to get involved early and help improve campus! The time commitment is: * Attending an intro meeting (approx. 1 hour), * Reviewing proposals (approx. 10-15 hours, self-paced and spread over a month and a half), and * Attending a final review meeting to agree to final funding (30min - 1hr). We really need to have our appointees set this week, so please email me (SGA-COGSSpeaker at fsu.edu) by Wednesday at 5 P.M. to let me know your interest. If we don't have two people volunteer, Exec may have to choose people to ensure that grad students are represented. For those who weren't at the Spring Retreat, the retreat is an opportunity to get to know your fellow representatives, meet and hear from our campus partners (Including Graduate Assistants United, the Law School and Medical Student Councils, and more!), and plan for our coming year. We will be providing breakfast and lunch, with a more detailed menu to follow. As we get closer and lock in our speakers, an agenda will be sent out. For our new members (anyone who joined after our Spring Retreat), please arrive by 10:00 AM for a New Reps Training, which will go over COGS structures, procedures, and practices. For our returning members, please arrive by 11:00 AM for the remainder of our program. Members are expected to attend so we can get as much of your input as possible, but we understand if you have immovable conflicts.
