Dr. Kathy Guthrie Receives Two Awards from ACPA

The American College Personnel Association (ACPA) honored Dr. Kathy Guthrie's contribution to the field of higher education with two prestigious awards this year. Guthrie received the Senior Professionals Award and the Annuit Coeptis - Senior Professional Award, of which she is one of only two recipients. Guthrie and fellow award winners will be recognized at ACPA23, which takes place in March 26-29 in New Orleans, LA.

Dr. Veronica Fleury Receives DADD Research Award

The Council for Exceptional Children's (CEC) Division on Autism and Developmental Disabilities (DADD) announced that FSU associate professor, Veronica Fleury, received the 2023 Research Award. This research award is presented to those demonstrating exceptional effort and involvement in furthering the cause of persons with autism, intellectual disability, and other developmental disabilities through research.

Dr. Ithel Jones Receives Senior Scholar Award

Professor Ithel Jones received the 2022 Senior Scholar Award from the Eastern Educational Research Association (EERA). The Eastern Educational Research Association Senior Scholar Award recognizes an EERA scholar for the following: outstanding theoretical and/or applied research that contributes to the professional body of knowledge about education; and demonstrated excellence in teaching, advising, and/or mentoring.

Dr. Cameron Beatty Delivers Keynote at Leadership Educators Institute

Dr. Cameron Beatty, assistant professor and program coordinator for the Higher Education program at the FSU College of Education, delivered the opening keynote speech at Leadership Educators Institute (LEI), a collaboration between NASPA, ACPA-College Student Educators International, and the National Clearinghouse for Leadership Programs.

Dr. Amal Ibourk Receives Research Recognition

Dr. Amal Ibourk, assistant professor of science education, received the National Association for Research in Science Teaching (NARST) "Research Worth Reading" recognition for her article titled “It is what it is”: Using Storied-Identity and intersectionality lenses to understand the trajectory of a young Black woman's science and math identities." This recognition is only given out to three papers published in the Journal of Research in Science Teaching (JRST) each year.

Recently, we sat down with some of the team at the FSU Tech Sandbox to discuss the impact technology plays in the lives of our students and how faculty and students alike use this resource to understand the tools of today and tomorrow.
