Please see the email below from The Congress of Graduate Students (COGS). If you have any questions about this email, please contact COGS directly at sga-cogs-communication at fsu.edu. The Congress of Graduate Students (COGS) is looking for students interested in using their voice to represent the graduate student body. COGS is the official representative body of graduate students at Florida State University and yearly allocates over $1.2 million by funding graduate student organizations, graduate initiatives, and supporting conference travel through its presentation and attendance grant programs. We currently have 2 seats open in your college and would love for you to share this opportunity with your graduate students. COGS holds in-person assembly meetings twice a month on Monday evenings beginning at 6:30pm and does events each semester to bring the graduate student community together. It is a wonderful opportunity for a graduate student who wants to get involved and advocate on behalf of their peers. There are several ways students in your college can pursue representative seats on COGS. Throughout the year, prospective representatives may complete a vacant seat petition to state their interest in joining. However, we are approaching election season at Florida State, during which students may instead complete a Declaration of Candidacy Form to run for a seat on the congress. Declaration of Candidacy forms are due by September 29th at 4:00pm. Please see the attached calendar for upcoming election dates. I have attached a flyer with our open seats and for those interested who miss the election season deadline, our prospective representative packet. This packet includes the vacant seat petition to be shared with students. Please let me know if you have any questions. Best, Laura Vaughn (She/Her) Deputy Speaker of Communications Congress of Graduate Students sga-cogs-communication at fsu.edu If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
