Please see the attached PDFs for important College of Education graduate student dates and deadlines for fall 2021. I’ve also attached The Graduate School’s manuscript clearance deadlines through 2022 for thesis and dissertation writers.

The fall 2021 important dates and deadlines are also listed below. Please note that the Fall 2021 Graduation Application Period is August 30 – September 10, 2021.

Drop/Add
August 21 – August 26, 2021 – Fall 2021 add/drop registration window.
Students are tuition/fee liable for any coursework remaining on their schedule after the drop/add deadline.

First Day of Classes
August 23, 2021

  *   Fall 2021 classes begin
  *   Last day to file for change in residency status.

Late Registration ($100.00 late registration fee.)
August 23 – August 26, 2021
Late registration fees will not be waived.

August 26, 2021 - Fourth Day of Classes

  *   Last day to Drop/Add and have fees adjusted (Students are liable for all tuition/fees for courses still on their schedules after 11:59p.m., Eastern U.S. time.)
  *   Last day to add a course without Academic Dean’s permission
  *   Last day to cancel enrollment and have fees removed

Fall 2021 Graduation Application Period
August 30 – September 10, 2021 – Apply online at https://my.fsu.edu. Please visit http://registrar.fsu.edu/services/graduation/ for more details.

  *   For detailed instructions on applying for graduation online, follow the How to Apply to Graduate steps<https://registrar.fsu.edu/training/graduation/>.
  *   September 10, 2021 is the last day to apply to graduate in Fall 2021.
  *   Important: You are required to apply to graduate even if you do not intend to attend the Commencement Ceremony.

End of 7th Week of the Semester
October 8, 2021

  *   Last day to submit form requesting S/U grading or to change S/U option back to a regular grade.
  *   Last day to reduce course load without the permission of Academic Dean. Dean’s permission required to drop below twelve semester hours.
  *   Last day to drop a course without receiving a grade.
  *   Last day to withdraw from school without receiving a grade.
  *   Last day for doctoral students to take and pass their preliminary examination in order to add or convert dissertation hours for the current semester.

October 25, 2021 - Last day for doctoral candidates to submit doctoral dissertation to The Graduate School for pre-defense format review. ALL initial manuscripts MUST be submitted by this date in order to be eligible to graduate this semester. **

November 8, 2021 - Last day for master’s thesis students to submit their thesis to The Graduate School for pre-defense format review. ALL initial manuscripts MUST be submitted by this date in order to be eligible to graduate this semester. **

November 22, 2021 – Final manuscript submission deadline. Last day for submission of the post-defense, content-corrected thesis or dissertation and required forms to The Graduate School (by midnight Eastern U.S.).  All approvals must be obtained before the forms are submitted to the Manuscript Clearance Advisor. **

December 3, 2021 - Last Day of Classes

  *   Deadline for submission of all Fall 2021 Comprehensive Exam/Portfolio results (Masters/Specialist students), Diagnostic Exam Results and Doctoral Preliminary Exam results to OASIS, 2301 Stone Building.
  *   Deadline for submission of fall 2021 Graduate Certificate Admission<https://education.fsu.edu/degrees-and-programs/certificate-programs> online forms and fall 2021 Graduate Certificate Completion<https://education.fsu.edu/degrees-and-programs/certificate-programs> online forms to OASIS. (Departments must first review submissions. Please allow extra time for this approval.)
  *   Deadline for fall 2021 admitted Educator Preparation graduate program students to submit the appropriate online Educator Preparation Application<https://education.fsu.edu/student-resources/student-academic-services-oasis/for-graduate-students> and all official passing FTCE GK exam<http://www.fl.nesinc.com/> scores to Florida State University.

December 10, 2021 – Semester Ends

  *   Last day for Prospectus approval during the Fall semester in order to graduate in Spring 2022. Prospectus must be approved by the academic dean at least four (4) months prior to Dissertation Defense. Note: This date is approximately four (4) months from The Graduate School’s tentative Spring 2021 manuscript clearance deadline.
  *   Last day for thesis and dissertation and students graduating this semester to receive an email from Manuscript Clearance confirming final clearance.

December 10, 2021 – Fall 2021 Commencement Ceremony for the College of Education. Visit https://registrar.fsu.edu/graduation/seating/ for updated information.

PLEASE NOTE:

  *   Doctoral candidates must include a minimum of two (2) semester hours of dissertation every term, as part of the full-time enrollment, including summer. A student must be enrolled in a minimum of two hours of dissertation in the semester of graduation. Those with underload permission must register for at least two credit hours of dissertation per semester (or term). Underloads must be approved by the student's academic dean.*
  *   Thesis-track master’s students must be enrolled in a minimum of two thesis hours in the semester of graduation. The minimum number of thesis hours required for the master's degree is six. Those with underload permission must register for at least two credit hours of thesis per semester. Underloads must be approved by the student's academic dean.*
  *   All exams (comps, prelims, etc.) and all defenses require registration – contact your department for details.

*International students may have greater requirements. Consult your CGE Advisor. Students receiving an assistantship may have greater requirements. Contact your department administrator for questions.
