This email serves as a reminder about the upcoming spring 2020 seventh week deadline on February 21 and other important dates and deadlines.

Future Enrollment (Registration) Appointments - Registration for Summer 2020 and Fall 2020 begins on March 9.
For questions or assistance with registration, please contact your academic department directly. The Registrar’s Academic Calendars are found at http://registrar.fsu.edu/calendar/. Please bookmark this site. IMPORTANT: Students are responsible for all coursework remaining on their schedules after the posted drop/add deadline. Late registration fees will not be waived.

Upcoming Spring 2020 Important Dates and Deadlines

End of 7th Week of the Semester
February 21, 2020

  *   Last day to submit form requesting S/U grading or to change S/U option back to a regular grade.
  *   Last day to reduce course load without the permission of Academic Dean. Dean’s permission required to drop below twelve semester hours.
  *   Last day to drop a course without receiving a grade.
  *   Last day to withdraw without receiving a grade.
  *   Last day for doctoral students to take and pass their preliminary examination in order to add or convert DIS to dissertation hours for the current semester.
  *   Last day to petition to reinstate class schedule cancelled for nonpayment of tuition.

March 9, 2020

  *   Last day for doctoral students to submit doctoral dissertation to The Graduate School for pre-defense format review<https://gradschool.fsu.edu/academics-research/thesis-treatise-and-dissertation/manuscript-submission-process>. ALL initial manuscripts MUST be submitted by this date in order to be eligible to graduate this semester. *
  *   Registration for Summer 2020 and Fall 2020 begins.

March 22, 2020 - Last day for Doctoral Prospectus approval during the Spring semester in order to graduate in Summer 2020. The Doctoral Prospectus must be approved by the academic dean at least four (4) months prior to Dissertation Defense. Note: This date is approximately four (4) months from The Graduate School’s Summer 2020 final manuscript clearance deadline.

March 25, 2020 - Last day for master’s thesis students to submit their thesis to The Graduate School for pre-defense format review<https://gradschool.fsu.edu/academics-research/thesis-treatise-and-dissertation/manuscript-submission-process>. ALL initial manuscripts MUST be submitted by this date in order to be eligible to graduate this semester. *

April 13, 2020 – Final manuscript submission deadline<https://gradschool.fsu.edu/academics-research/thesis-treatise-and-dissertation/manuscript-clearance-deadlines>. Last day for submission of the post-defense, content-corrected thesis or dissertation and required forms/submissions to The Graduate (by 5:00p.m. Eastern U.S.).  All signatures/approvals must be obtained before the forms are submitted to the Manuscript Clearance Advisor. *

April 24, 2020 - Last Day of Classes

  *   Deadline for submission of all Spring 2020 Comprehensive Exam/Portfolio results (Masters/Specialist students), Diagnostic/Qualifying Exam Results and Doctoral Preliminary Exam results to OASIS, 2301 Stone Building.

  *   Deadline for Spring 2020 admitted Educator Preparation graduate program students to submit the appropriate online Educator Preparation Application<https://education.fsu.edu/student-resources/student-academic-services-oasis/for-graduate-students> and for the receipt all official passing FTCE GK exam<http://www.fl.nesinc.com/> and scores by Florida State University.
  *   Last day for thesis and dissertation and students graduating this semester to receive an email from Manuscript Clearance confirming final manuscript clearance.

May 1, 2020 – Semester Ends

  *   Deadline for submission of Spring 2020 online Graduate Certificate Admission applications<https://education.fsu.edu/degrees-and-programs/certificate-programs> to OASIS.**
  *   Start date for submission of Spring 2020 online Graduate Certificate Completion applications<https://education.fsu.edu/degrees-and-programs/certificate-programs> to certificate coordinator.**

Saturday, May 2, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. (Eastern US) – Spring 2020 Commencement Ceremony for the College of Education. Participation in a Commencement Ceremony is not degree conferral. Spring 2020 degrees are posted to transcripts by the University on May 28 (NO EXCEPTIONS).

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

  *   Doctoral students initial program of study submission deadline is the end of the third semester after admission.
  *   Master’s and Specialist’s student deadline for submission of the initial program of study is the end of the second semester after admission. (Some academic programs have earlier deadlines. Contact your department for questions.)
  *   Doctoral students who have completed the required coursework, passed the Preliminary Examination and submitted an Admission to Candidacy form to the Office of the Registrar, and continue to use campus facilities and/or receive faculty supervision, but have not been cleared by the Manuscript Clearance office shall include in the required full-time load a minimum of two credit hours of dissertation per semester, including Summer term, until completion of the degree. International students may have greater requirements (contact CGE for questions).
  *   Doctoral students, after completion of the preliminary exam and twenty-four credit hours of dissertation, must be enrolled for a minimum of three credit hours per semester (of which at least two must be dissertation hours) until completion of the degree.
  *   Thesis students and doctoral candidates are required to register for a minimum of two (2) semester hours of thesis or dissertation in the semester of degree conferral.
  *   All exams (comps, prelims, etc.) and defenses require registration – contact your department for details.

  *   NOTE: If you are completing your degree requirements in spring 2020, you are required to apply for graduation even if you do not intend to participate in the Commencement Ceremony.
  *   January 24, 2020 is the last day to apply for Spring 2020 Graduation.
