The Center for Education Research in Mathematics, Engineering, and Science offers the next presentation of their Spring Speaker Series:

"Randomized Control Trials"
with Dr. Jonathon Grooms

Friday, April 25, 2014
10:00 - 11:30 a.m.

College of Education
Stone Building - Room G106

Randomized controlled trials (RCT) are an essential research design for supporting causal claims related to educational interventions. Additionally, using an RCT design is one of the few ways to meet the evidence standards of the What Works Clearinghouse (WWC) without reservations. When planning for and conducting RCT there are myriad factors that must be considered to ensure a quality design. These include the prior evidence to support conducting an RCT, the role of blocking or clustering, and ensuring fidelity of implementation between the treatment and counterfactual groups, just to name a few.

This talk in the CERMES Speaker Series will feature a discussion of the RCT design within education research and how to address these and other factors related to the RCT design. It will be a great opportunity for interested FSU graduate students and research faculty members to learn more about RCT.
