FSU Graduate Summer Research Fellowship

for Collaboration with the

Oak Ridge National Laboratory

FSU Office of Research is accepting applications from current FSU graduate students for a summer research opportunity at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). Students are encouraged to work with their research advisors to develop viable research plans to be pursued in collaboration with ORNL scientists. The fellowship will cover the stipend and tuition for the summer 2024 semester, as well as housing and travel expenses to cover travel to and from ORNL.



Eligibility. The applicant must be a current FSU graduate student with good standing in the program. Students who hold full-time graduate research fellowships (e.g., such as the NSF, DOE, GEM, Legacy, or other full-time fellowships) are not eligible for this award. Students who plan to defend their Ph.D. thesis in the summer or fall of 2024 are not eligible to apply.



How to Apply. Create a single PDF file that contains the following elements:

·      Student’s CV, not to exceed 2 pages.

·      A full list of the student’s publications and presentations.

·      A 2-page proposal of the work to be pursued over the summer semester. Describe the research objectives and indicate clearly which research activities will be pursued at ORNL and at FSU.

·      A budget for the housing and round-trip travel to the ORNL.

·      A letter of recommendation from the student’s PhD advisor at FSU.

·      A letter of endorsement from the ORNL collaborator, who should comment on the content of the student’s proposal, the resources available to support the project at ORNL, and the mentoring they will provide for the student during the time spent at ORNL.
