Dear MFA Program Directors:

My name is Geeta Kohli Tewari, and I am an Associate Professor of Law at Widener University Delaware Law School.  In my time as a law professor, I have completed a multitude of interdisciplinary research and writing focusing predominantly on literature, law, and justice. In addition to my law degree, I hold an MFA in Writing from Columbia University School of the Arts, and my fiction and poetry has appeared in /Granta/, /The Southern Review/, and other prominent literary magazines. 

I am writing to ask if you could share my new literary magazine,/ Justice Reads/, with your student body and alumni as an invitation for submission of their literary work. We publish fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry that engage with themes of social justice and feminist thought.  Our goal is to foster conversations about justice while creating a space where individuals can use storytelling as a tool for change.  In other words, we hope to elevate diverse perspectives and provide a platform for writers to explore justice through their art—whether through personal narratives, social commentary, or creative storytelling.

/Justice Reads/ is a member of the Community of Literary Magazines and Publishers, and is rooted in the Narrative Justice Project, fiscally sponsored by the New York Foundation for the Arts. I founded the Narrative Justice Project in the belief that personal experience and individual voices are powerful tools for understanding and advocating for societal change. 

We are currently accepting submissions, and I would love to encourage your MFA students and alumni to consider submitting their work.  Whether their writing reflects personal experiences, critical analysis, or creative explorations of justice, we welcome all perspectives that align with our mission.  If possible, I would greatly appreciate it if you could pass this opportunity along to your students and encourage them to consider submitting by sharing the submission link below:
