Hello MFA's,
I have an unique opportunity that you are welcome to submit work for by Jan 25th. Venvi is a local gallery and all work is for sale. The work will be reviewed by a committee and you will be notified before the end of February about your submission.
Curatorial Statement: Locust Technician
Venvi Art Gallery | April 2025
In "Locust Technician," the artists take inspiration from the complex symbolism of locusts—creatures that straddle the delicate line between destruction and abundance, silence and cacophony, devastation and renewal. This DEI-focused exhibition features the work of Florida State University students, whose creative voices navigate themes of resilience, transformation, and shared humanity in the face of adversity.
-All submissions require a DEI statement.
-The ideal submission will have a larger work (medium to large) and several studies or small works that inform the larger work that could be placed perhaps in a line or grid (3/6/or9) or grouping. Again, all work submitted must be for sale).

Dates and details: Locust Technician at Venvi Gallery

BA and BFA, MFA students of Art at FSU are invited to submit work for Locust Technician at Venvi Gallery:
          Jan 25: Submission portal closes.
          January 29: Notification of acceptance via email.
          April 4: Opening event (5-8 PM).
          May 20-21: Art pickup.
Submission Guidelines:
          Eligibility: Open to current students with wall hanging work (ready to hang). Students’ work must fit a theme of emphasizing diversity, equity, and inclusion. Work must be for sale.
          Medium: Oil, acrylic, watercolor, or mixed media.
          Requirements:
               Submit high-resolution images of your work.
               Include dimensions, medium, and a brief artist statement (200 words max).
               Work must be gallery-ready with hanging hardware or clear installation instructions.
               Submissions will undergo curatorial review.
Timeline Overview:
          January 15: Portal Opens
               Prepare your images and materials for submission.
          January 25: Portal Closes
               Ensure all applications are complete.
         (in Feb): Notifications Sent – Accepted artists will receive detailed instructions for the exhibition.
          March 20-21: Installation Day- Delivery to Venvi Art Gallery all work between 12 and 2pm
          April 4: Opening Event
               Celebrate with the opening reception from 5-8 PM.
          May 20-21: Deinstallation
               Coordinate artwork pickup.
