Dear Jeff

My name is Jennifer Carolin and I am the cofounder of the Mudhouse Residency, an international artist residency on the island of Crete in Greece.

I was hoping you could share this invitation to participate in a 2024 summer residency at Mudhouse with your graduate students and/or exceptional undergraduate students.

Focused on creating cross generational dialogue, each year the Mudhouse brings together a diverse cohort of resident artists in the remote mountain village of Agios Ioannis, providing them with the stunning natural beauty of its environment, solitude to foster creative growth, an immersive cultural experience within a profoundly rich historical context, and most importantly an artistic community that enriches each artist through their participation.

Understanding the difficulties in transitioning from academic study to professional career as an artist, the Mudhouse Residency actively recruits young artists to attend and work alongside emerging, mid-career, and established artists. Furthering this aim, this summer, the artists Cassils and David Brooks will be our featured visiting artists.

Now in its eighth year, the Mudhouse has worked with students and faculty from around the world. Below is a list of institutions where artists-in-residence were either current students or faculty while attending the Mudhouse.

As I hope you can see, as artists ourselves, we at the Mudhouse are very eager to work with academic institutions to support exceptional artists as they enter and move through their careers. I would very much welcome a conversation to speak with you further.

The deadline to apply for this summer’s programs is March 30th. Jennifer Carolin
