It's Ceren and I am a director and a graduate student at the FSU College of Motion Picture Arts. Currently, my team and I are currently in pre-production for a short film that I?m directing. The film is titled ?The Sunlight from your Tongue? and it?s a story about pain, depression, and beauty. My main character is a painter, and we would be so happy to collaborate with the FSU Department of Art and work with an artist to create authentic art pieces for the production design. The film shoots on the 11-18th of February and we have a $1350 budget we can accommodate for the artist. I?ve attached a poster that includes more information about the project. Please feel free to email me or call the number below if you can refer me to someone who would help. I would be happy to give more details about the project. Sincerily, M. I have to say though that most of these items could be fixed or addressed quicker with an email to me and Tenee?. Or come see me in the office. Here is a quick follow up to some of the items. * After Tenee? and April spent considerable time trying to fix the current sewing machine, yesterday Tenee? and I discussed the situation and decided to look into fixing the current one but also buy a new one. I understand that you want one with a serger. Lilian has approved this purchase so Tenee? will get that ordered very soon. * some of you apparently still do not have access to the calendar. I can fix that soooo quickly if you send me your gmail or other email that can be used to access google docs. If the issue is not about the email address but you are having another issue, please come see me with your computer or phone and we can problem solve. * I heard for the first time that some things were stolen over the break. Please share with me what is missing, when you noticed it missing and where it was. * There was a request to prioritize 3rd years in the large new install spaces. Can I get a bit more clarification on that request? * FYI - faculty sensitivity training is taking place on 2/11. Additionally, Lilian wanted me to send you the information about SAFER https://stayhealthy.fsu.edu/safer I am sharing this with the faculty as well. The SAFER team will then take on the task of contacting potentially exposed students, faculty and staff. Note: the faculty member who had COViD did not know this. They all know this now. And - good news - we just got an email that the color printer that will live in Tenee?s and my office has arrived. We should have it set up some time next week. Spring 2022 Art Student Awards Message-ID: Apply Now! Spring 2022 Art Student Awards The FSU Department of Art student awards recognize the strength of our students and that means YOU! The Department of Art gives awards to Studio Art students whose work demonstrates exceptional achievement. Awards range from $250 to $1000. We are typically able to provide 30+ awards ? so with a strong application, you have a great chance of being selected! All awards are applied to your Financial Aid package. If you have questions about how the award would be applied in your specific case, please contact Financial Aid directly. All BA, BFA & MFA students in good academic standing enrolled Spring 2022 are eligible to apply. Application deadline ? Tuesday, February 1st at 11:59 pm To apply, go to https://fsu.academicworks.com/ After login, fill out the General Application first, and then select College of Fine Arts/Dept of Art Application and complete the art portion as outlined below. Both parts of the application must be completed to be considered for an award. Preparing your Art Award application ? make it great! Here?s how: 1. Develop a concise yet compelling artist?s statement between 150 and 300 words in length. Start with a brief biographical statement, followed by a description of the ideas that drive your work. SPECIAL NOTE for Undergraduates: If you wish to be considered for an Ann Kirn Scholarship (a $1000 award limited to undergraduate students), you must include a thoughtful description of the role that design plays in your studio practice. 2. Select the five (5) to eight (8) images that best represent your studio work. Formatting your images: Be sure that your images are photographed well and cropped as needed. File sizes should be less than 2MB and either jpg or png. A video will be considered as one image. Submit your video to Vimeo or YouTube and provide a link within your application. Still images should be in a square format: To get your images into a square format, open the image in Photoshop. Go to Image/Image Size and size the image to 1080 pixels on the longest edge at 72dpi. Then, go to Image/Canvas Size, and make the width and height 1080 pixels x 1080 pixels and choose the canvas extension color as black or white (or choose a color). Keep the anchor dot in the center. Choosing your images: A balance between breadth and depth is ideal. If no two images are related in any way, your submission can appear unfocused. If all of the images are extremely similar, you can come across as short on imagination. Most importantly, be sure all of the images presented are your very best. It is better to submit six great images than to submit six great ones and two weak ones. Media awards: Each of our focus areas has a $250 award (Painting, Drawing, Printmaking, Sculpture, Ceramics, Digital Media, Photography). You will have the option of selecting one or more areas that best describes your focus, but your images must reflect that. For example, if you want to be considered for the Painting Award, you must submit some examples of your best work in painting. 3. Write a brief description of each image and provide the title, size, medium, and date completed. This is a great opportunity to build on the general comments from your Artist?s Statement through specific information about each image. 4. Additional Scholarship & Practice, Awards, Volunteering, and Leadership If you would like the faculty to know about any additional achievements you have had recently, please list them here. These could include: 1. Additional scholarship and practice, such as an artist residency, community project, etc. 2. Specific awards you have received (list the name of the award and date) 3. Volunteer hours (list the particular volunteer activity and the approximate number of hours) 4. Leadership roles you have taken on (such as a leadership role in a student organization) SPECIAL NOTE: The application as a whole may evolve over several days and is likely to take many hours to complete. Putting the necessary time and thought into it will greatly improve your chances of success. Furthermore, once you have laid the groundwork with this application, you will be better prepared for future applications for awards on or off campus. Sample application and tips for writing your artist statement are posted on the department website: https://art.fsu.edu/opportunities/scholarships-grants/department-of-art-student-awards/ Questions? I hope that this message finds everyone doing well and having a wonderful 3-day weekend. As many of you have noticed, your tuition statements might seem a little all over the place right now - that is because while the waivers have been put in - they need your final signature to 'drop'. You can electronically access your waiver receipt in your Student Central or as I always call it - your FSU portal. Once accessed you will need to sign and send me your completed waiver form so that I can submit them as a whole. Here is a quick step-by-step on how to access your waiver form: [cid:54fab65f-10b9-45bc-b93e-664330503d6f] Accessing | Waiver Form 1. Log in to my.fsu.edu 1. Click on Student Central icon under MYFSU Links 1. Click on My Bill 1. Expand Account Services on left side navigation 1. Click on Waiver Form (this may take several minutes to load) 2. I highly suggest using DocuSign [https://app.docusign.com/home], an FSU owned program for electronic signatures, to make this process super easy. If you are a little rusty with digital signature programs, you are more than welcome to physically print out and sign your document and then send it back to me as a PDF. Whatever process you choose is fine - as long as it is legibly signed and can reasonably be considered a legal acknowledgment of your waiver. With that being said, I need all of your electronically signed waiver forms by this Friday, January 21st, 2022 before 11:59pm. As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns and I will be happy to address them. Wishing you guys safe and healthy days ahead! Take care, Tenee' Tenee? Art Student Awards Deadline Tues Feb 1 Message-ID: You still have time to apply for the Spring 2022 Art Student Awards ! The Department of Art gives a number of awards to Studio Art students whose work demonstrates exceptional achievement. To apply, go to https://fsu.academicworks.com/ After login, fill out the General Application first, and then select College of Fine Arts/Dept of Art Application and complete the art portion as outlined below. Both parts of the application must be completed to be considered for an award. Application deadline ? Tuesday, February 1st at 11:59 pm Preparing your Art Award application ? make it great! 1. 1. Write a brief description of each image and provide the title, size, medium, and date completed. This is a great opportunity to build on the general comments from your Artist?s Statement through specific information about each image. 1.
