[Art-mfastudio] Reminder: All Grad Meeting on Friday, 9/17, 1 pm

Dear grads,
We (Tenee’ and I) will be meeting with all FSU Art MFA grads on Friday, 9/17, at 1 pm in CAB 1001 (Atrium/Cafeteria area).  Lilian and Grace Ali will also be joining us.

This will be a fun meeting.
The main discussion items are:

  *   Prospect - December 6-10.
     *   Distribution of the The Yellow House.
     *   General trip details.
  *   LGA and WMC
  *   Choose MFA Rep for faculty meetings

In the meantime, here are some updates:

  *   1st Year MFA Open Studios will be Friday, 9/17, 9-12.  2nd and 3rd Year grads are welcome to wander around and support the 1st years.
  *   A new event on the calendar - Mandatory for all:  FSU Allies & Safe Zones Workshop, 10/1, 1-4pm, FAB 249.
  *   Facilities:
     *   Wood shop: the Saw Stop is repaired and the air compressor has been replaced
     *   Metal shop: the air compressor has been replaced
     *   There are now ear plugs in the wood and metal shops.  Eye protection is available too but that is not new.
     *   Air purifiers:  We have a lot of air compressors for our spaces now.
        *   Some have not yet been unboxed.
           *   Thanks to people who are going ahead and setting them up.
           *   Please keep in mind the following:
              *   open up the two vented sides and remove the plastic from the filters
              *   remove the manual taped on the side and place on the front - so as to not block the vent
              *   keep the air purifiers 20” from the wall
              *   don’t move them from where they are placed currently
  *   Tenee’ will have an announcement soon about checking out install spaces.

If you are not able to attend, you need to let me know right away.  This is a mandatory meeting, it has been on the calendar since before orientation and you are to be using Fridays as studio days so you will need a legit reason for your absence.
