Hello! My name is Tom Roggio and I’m a doctoral violinist in the College of Music at FSU. I hope this email finds you well! I am contacting you in the hopes of finding artists interested in a commissioning project. I am applying for the university’s Presser Award, which grants the recipient $10,000 to realize a project. My proposal is to create an interdisciplinary violin recital that incorporates visual art, narration, and lighting, centered around the theme ‘Shades of Blue’. Each piece on the program correlates to ‘blue’ and my hope is to find artists to commission works that tie to the music. The date of the performance is still TBA but would likely be between December 2022 and February 2023. The venue will be on FSU’s campus but I am working to find more unique spaces off-campus to accommodate something like this.

I was wondering if your organization [League of Graduate Artists | LGA] would have any members that would be interested in be a part of this project. I am open to any type of medium. The works will be displayed during performances of each piece and on their own as audiences are entering the venue. This will absolutely be a paid opportunity and I hope to work with each artist in discussing the budget. I’m thinking a starting rate of around $300-400, but this is of course flexible depending on the medium. Below this email I am attaching recordings of each piece in case you wanted a feel for the music on the program. If you would would be willing to forward this to anyone interested, I would greatly appreciate it.
