Hello All!
I'm reaching out to make you aware of an item on the agenda for the upcoming Board of County Commissioners meeting on Tues., Feb. 25 at 3pm (tomorrow). It is agenda item 12, titled "Alternative Structures for Administration of Cultural Programming."
To summarize, there is the possibility that COCA's administration of cultural programming would be transitioned to the County's Division of Tourism (Visit Tallahassee).
If you feel moved to do so, please express your thoughts to our Commissioners. If you've found COCA to be a valuable resource, please let the Commissioners know. If COCA is absorbed into Visit Tallahassee, it is unlikely they would be able to function or exist in any recognizable form.
More than that, many of the organizations in our cultural community would go unfunded too, unless their work has a significant tourism impact.
This isn't just about COCA, it's about the WHOLE community.
Take care,
Tenee’ Hart
