I'm writing to share a new juried grant opportunity for your students and alumni, the first annual Foundwork Artist Prize. The prize is an unrestricted $10,000 grant to be awarded in October, 2019 to an outstanding artist chosen on Foundwork. The winner will also receive a studio visit with each of our jurors. As a reminder, Foundwork is a new online platform designed to help connect artists and collaborators across the contemporary art community. Foundwork is a focused venue for artists to introduce their work to a global art audience, where curators, gallerists, and other collaborators can research and engage with practicing artists wherever they?re based. The Foundwork Artist Prize is a natural outgrowth of the platform and reflects our broader goal to facilitate opportunities for artists regardless of their prior network or recognition. We?re thrilled to offer this new resource to artists, and hope to spread the word to a wide range of practitioners across the community. As the platform is free for students in accredited studio art programs (with a $4/month membership for non-students), it's a particularly good opportunity for them, and we look forward to featuring more student artists on Foundwork in the coming weeks! I?ve copied in below a more thorough description of the prize, including our 2019 jury, for easy sharing. We would love for you to pass this along to your students, alumni, and colleagues as you see fit. Please let us know if you have any questions, and thanks so much for your consideration. All the best, Adam Yokell Founder ---- Foundwork Artist Prize | $10,000 Juried Grant Opportunity The Foundwork Artist Prize is sponsored by Foundwork (www.foundwork.art), a new artist platform for the contemporary art community. Artists are invited to create a profile on Foundwork to be considered for the first annual Foundwork Artist Prize, an unrestricted $10,000 juried grant awarded in October, 2019 to an outstanding artist chosen on the platform. The winner will also receive a studio visit with each of the jurors to cultivate a dialogue around their practice. Foundwork is a focused venue for artists to introduce their work to a professional art audience, where curators, gallerists, and other collaborators can research and engage with practicing artists wherever they?re based. The platform was established by a former Brooklyn gallerist after experiencing the limitations that artists and exhibitors face trying to find and connect with one another. Foundwork currently features artists in more than thirty countries, including self-taught artists together with those from academic studio backgrounds. The Foundwork Artist Prize reflects Foundwork?s purpose to facilitate opportunities for artists regardless of their prior network or recognition. Accordingly, the selection process for the prize will exclude exhibition history and focus only on artwork and artist statements published on Foundwork. To be considered for the Foundwork Artist Prize, an artist must be a US resident and have a profile with at least 5 artworks published on Foundwork throughout the selection period: 5:00 PM ET September 1?5:00 PM ET September 30, 2019.
