FSU|MFA + Cherokee Sink Saturday

All (faculty, staff, alumni, MFAs, BFAs, friends, and partners) are welcome to join in on our annual nature outing. This event is meant to bring in the new school year while providing opportunities to connect - connect with each other, nature, and hopefully manatees... **fingers crossed** So please come out and enjoy the beauty that is the Cherokee Sink!!!

Details:
Location: Wakulla Springs State Park
Entry Fee: $4 per car (no more than 8 ppl per car)
- Potentially people could meet at CAB and set up carpool situations to save money (& the earth essentially)

Things you might need:

  *   Sunscreen
  *   Swimsuit
     *    If swimming, remember to bring a towel & a change of clothes!
  *   Food & drink
     *   While these items are not allowed on the dock of the sink you are still able to bring them. Don't forget water - you will need to stay hydrated! :)
  *   Bu​g Spray (just cause - you know... Florida!)

So what's so special about the Cherokee Sink? Well, here are a few details...

A karst window into the watery world of the Woodville Karst Plain, Cherokee Sink is a large, deep water-filled sinkhole in a less-traveled section of Wakulla Springs State Park. More than 250 wide at its broadest point, it is up to 77 feet deep, with rugged limestone bluffs and boulders along portions of the water’s edge. The Cherokee Sink Trail follows the forest road that locals used to access this former swimming hole, providing access to several viewpoints above and along the sink and a trip to a historic cemetery just beyond it.
