Horizon celebrates the original research and creative innovation of Florida State University?s emerging undergraduate scholars. Showcasing the work of Audrey Lendvay, Antonia Pretelt, Alex Davidoff, Raven Watkins, and Joanna Godfrey; this exhibition highlights the extraordinary achievements of students whose projects were supported through FSU?s IDEA Grants for Creative Research and the Honors in the Major program. Working across painting, sculpture, installation, printmaking, and interdisciplinary practices, these BFA and BA student-artists investigate speculative worlds, embodied knowledge, ecological futures, cultural memory, and the shifting landscapes of identity and technology. Their research-driven artworks demonstrate the intellectual rigor and imaginative breadth that define contemporary art-making at FSU. Horizon invites viewers to witness the next generation of artists as they test boundaries, envision new possibilities, and expand the horizon of what undergraduate creative research can be. Opening Reception: Thursday, February 5th, 5:00 - 7:00pm Talk by the artists will begin at 5:30 *For anyone who would like to hear about Idea Great and HITM research this would be a great event to attend! The absolute deadline is the following: * March 27, 2026, for the Summer Term * July 10, 2026, for the Fall Term After these deadlines, noncompliance is reported to FSU Board of Trustees and Florida Board of Governors consistent with state law. Please send your textbooks and instructional materials for both Summer + Fall terms to me as noted below by February 23 with the following details: * Course ID * full textbook title * all authors * 13-digit ISBN * edition * publisher * year of the copyright * year published. --------------------------------------- Entries should include all instructional materials needed for the course including, for example, iClickers, course packets, lab materials, textbooks, Follett Access course materials, and calculators. Please do not indicate the textbooks/instructional materials are ?to be determined.? If you need to add a textbook, please make sure that the entry is complete (e.g., full title, all authors, 13-digit ISBN, edition, publisher, year of the copyright, and year published is entered). This information is required by law and helps the university bookstore accurately process your course materials and for students to obtain the correct materials. Please note that all non-C, D, L, and M classes will be auto-populated as ?no textbook required? by the Registrar?s Office. If there is a textbook required or recommended for a non-C, D, L, and M course, please modify the entry to provide the correct textbook information for the course. If an instructor is using an Open Educational Resource (OER) or library-licensed material (free to students), then please indicate in the notes of the entry form that the material is free of cost to students, and whether the textbook/instructional material is required/recommended for the course. As a reminder, * "Choice" is used when there are two or more options for required instructional material (e.g., a choice between two editions). * If the status is "pending," then the course section is out of compliance. * Make sure that the notation of ?required? vs. recommended is accurate. * ALL instructional materials should be identified in Student Central. * Make sure that the instructional materials tie to the syllabus. * ?No textbook required? means that no instructional materials or textbooks are required for the course. If you are using OER or library-licensed material, please do not check this box. ------------------------ Kind regards, Celeste Celeste Ivory, MFA Program Manager + Adjunct Professor | Department of Art | College of Fine Arts | Florida State University Fine Arts Building 220 | 530 W. Message-ID: [cid:8ea1ae7a-b8ff-4ac8-bcd5-416823945d1b] BINARY EXHIBITION AT WORKING METHOD CONTEMPORARY GALLERY Over time, humans have displayed an affinity for categorization. People are categorized into category A or B, ideas and morals are looked at as either black or white, and complex structures are packaged into neat boxes in order to make them ?easier? to comprehend. How far have patterns of binary categorization and thinking extended into different facets of our culture today? Is this for better, for worse, or both? This open call is for artwork that explores and responds to binary forms of thinking and categorization present within our current society. Binary can be explored through expressions of what our current society deems as ?black? or ?white,? or even the ?gray? spaces in-between that exist outside of categorization. This can be explored in specific or broader contexts. Message-ID: Dear All, Please find the information and schedule for the event "Lay of the Land" below. Please encourage your students to attend. Thank you! ---------------------- Hello All, I cordially invite you to attend the Lay of the Land, a Department of Art Faculty Symposium + Exhibition Opening, taking place next Friday, February 20th at the FSU Facility for Arts Research. The exhibition is composed of works by faculty. The symposium and exhibition examine our complex relationships with the landscapes we inhabit. Purposefully open-ended, the project invites a wide range of approaches. Some works address the impacts of climate change and the cascading, interrelated anthropogenic forces shaping our world, while others investigate the mutability of land itself. From landscapes that bear historical and physical scars of past conflicts, to critiques of the limitations and violence embedded in conventional cartographic practices, to more personal and poetic reflections on place - the works collectively underscore an urgent need to rethink modern societal structures, reimagining humans not as separate from nature, but as deeply embedded within it. Exhibiting Artists: Jonathan Christensen Caballero Kevin Curry Brian Dick Lilian Garcia-Roig Katie Kehoe Keith Roberson Jean Shon Anne Stagg The Symposium will take place from 2:00 - 5:30 pm, with the format being pairs of artists presenting their work followed by a guided Q+A. Thematic links between artist works and practices will be explored, and audience members will be invited to ask questions as well. Here's the schedule: 2:00 - 3:00 : Brian Dick + Keith Roberson 3:00 - 4:00 : Jonathan Christensen Caballero + Kevin Curry ????????(break) 4:15 - 5:15 : Jean Shon + Anne Stagg The reception will begin directly after the symposium, and the opening will last until 8:00 pm.
