From jbeekman at fsu.edu Wed Jul 3 10:23:41 2024 From: jbeekman at fsu.edu (Jeff Beekman) Date: Wed, 3 Jul 2024 14:23:41 +0000 Subject: [Art-instructors] Tori Cole's new position Message-ID: Hello All, I've some bittersweet news to share - Tori Cole's many talents have been recognized by the College of Fine Arts. They have offered her the position of Assistant Director of Administrative Services. Tori has accepted. We are deeply grateful for the 3 years of service Tori has performed for the department, where she has proven to be a tremendously capable and energetic advocate for the department. She has managed our department?s budget, onboarded all new faculty, staff, GAs, adjuncts, figure models, and work-study students, assisted our faculty with Promotion & Tenure, and monitored all administrative processes (travel, purchasing, payroll, etc.). She also helped write five tech grants, securing more than $63,000 in funding for improvements across our areas. As Assistant Director Tori will be assuming the role recently vacated by Johanna Petty, and among other duties will be overseeing her replacement in the Department of Art. I have full faith that she and the college will do all they can to ensure whoever takes on this role is thoroughly trained, and that we are well taken care of during this time of transition. The search for Tori's replacement will begin shortly, with Tori, Celeste, Chris Rivera, Rachel Collins, and I working together to identify viable candidates and make the final selection. The hope is to have this person in place by the end of August or the beginning of September. I strongly encourage all those who feel so moved to reach out directly to Tori to congratulate her on her incredibly well-deserved promotion. Her first official day in the new position is July 19th. She also plans to join us at the Faculty Retreat on August 9th and will remain a valued CFA colleague. Message-ID: Hi all, I just finished my first day in the Dean?s Office and I am reflecting on my last three years in the Department of Art. I just want to say thank you to everyone for being so welcoming, kind, and fun/crazy during my time with the department. I am very grateful for all the experience and friendships I have gained. I know the transition will be a little scary, so I am going to spend my Tuesdays in the FAB office for the time being until we can get my old role filled. If you need anything and would prefer to talk in-person, feel free to swing by! If not, I am always able to be reached by phone or email. I will still be working with you in many ways from the Dean?s Office, so I am sure we will talk soon. If you are ever in the FAR building, please stop by and say hello! Again, thank you for being an amazing department. ? Since yesterday evening I've received 4 emails from two different people in the Dean's Office asking for unit highlights from this last year (F/23 thru Su/24). Celeste and I can and have combed through annual evaluation materials, but if you could please let us know about any accomplishments you've had since then (Spring thru Summer), I'd be appreciative. Again, this could include anything we would normally give research credit for - higher profile exhibitions, curatorial projects, grants, awards, conference presentations and other talks given, articles, reviews, book chapters, etc. For new and part-time faculty, if you could please provide a more comprehensive list of recent hightlights, I'd be appreciative. I need to send off the completed list by this Friday, so if you could please send this to Celeste and I by Thursday evening at the latest, I'd be appreciative. This will give us the time to compile and reach out for more info if necessary. Please know that promoting your successes is honestly one of my favorite parts of the job!
